Quick Q: spike size for Mana Stands?

I’ve lost the floor spikes from a Mana 4 tier shelf. Can anyone tell me the correct spike size please? M6?

@Skeptikal is your guy.

No Mana here only Target. :thinking:

I confounded them. :weary:

Another attempt, as I saw a dedicated thread by him ( „ manna acoustics „).

johnwatsonmana on IG, and FB too I think, might be worth a message.

John used to follow me on Instagram - but then randomly blocked me.

I don’t own any Mana - and never have - but was interested…probably more in the science and the experiences than in actually buying any.

I just put a caliper on the exposed threads of a few of the spikes on my Mana wall shelf (the long, downward pointing ones, not the stubby ones that the glass sits on). My measurements range from 7.15 to 7.21 mm.

According to this chart, M8 screws have a pitch diameter of 7.188 mm. Assuming the floor spikes of your table are the same as the other “long” spikes, then I believe M8 is what you need.

Perfect! M8 it is. Thanks @Corry

M8 and M6 spikes are common and easy to buy in the usual places. Measuring threads can be tricky even if you have full access to them and have calipers and thread gauges.
Most threads are machine formed and rarely match the standards in my experience. They are not usually precision items. Although, if required, they can be.
If in doubt, buy a handfull of M8 and M6 and see whuch fits, although from the measurements above, M8 looks like what you are after. Assumption here is that it is not a fine thread nor left handed thread- neither would make any sence in your application.

I had this very experience recently trying to match some existing screws on a home project. It took two attempts to get the correct size, and even then they weren’t absolutely identical to the originals.

As you imply, I think the OP is on safer ground buying audio spikes, as every set I’m aware of comes in either M6 or M8.

I’m willing to assume that Mana are (or, should I say, were) using spikes supplied by a third party. A good thing, as the workmanship on my set is nothing to write home about - if you sight down along any edge of my Phase Four stack, you’ll see a variation in width of at least 2 mm. between the levels.
