Or use a network bridge / streamer that has a good quality SPDIF (BNC or RCA) output like Naim or DCS that doesn’t demand another box
Single BNC & RCA connections will not give you 32bit/768 streaming to the DAC!
What I find odd is that my oR has two boxes now. The oR & the LPS with the optical coming from a Ubiquiti optical network.
The NDX2 plus external power supply is also a two box solution but of course, it’s a lot larger. The oR and LPS is about half the size of one Naim box and the SRC-DX is about the size of a large box of matches and sits in the cable line… not even on a shelf. I’m really struggling to get my head around the fixation on box count… especially when compared to Naim systems.
USB3 cables will work but you’d have to use an adapter to convert from USB3 to USB2. There aren’t any Chord DACs at this point that take a USB3 B plug.
However, the iFi USB3 plus DC purifier adapter (USB3 - USB2) still didn’t come close to matching the TQ SD USB.
Of course, the situation with the noisy high latency USB controller in the Chord hardware isn’t resolved no matter which cable you use. The SRC-DX steps in here and provides a better USB controller with it’s FPGA & Intel Celeron 10th gen chipsets to carryout the conversion from USB to dual BNC for high data sources such as HQP & PGGB.
Forecasts of the imminent demise of green & black appear to be premature:
Not to worry. We still have 2 Naim systems in the house.

Guys, perhaps this is a dumb question, but can the M scaler be used with the Hugo 2? Chord’s website says yes, but the Hugo 2 obviously lacks the spidf jacks of the Qutest. I thought I read somewhere a while back that the Hugo 2 doesn’t use the full capabilities of the M scaler as a result?
I have a Hugo 2 and yes you can use the M Scaler with it. You need a special cable two in one.
Thanks Rafael. That’s good news. Can you describe the special cable?
2 BNC into coaxial 3,5 mm.
Great, thank you!
Not wanting to open up the subject again but I’ve just read that innuos servers support that file type.
Should do, it’s a wav file but with the option to set the resolution the same as the MScaler max, 24/768z. You’d just feed it direct to the DAC via innous but without the MScaler.
Now we just need the Naim Core to do the same, and it might be worth owning.
I didn’t understand?
You sold the 52/135 ?
That’s correct, yes.
Best regards, BF
At least you stuck with Black…
Nice neat potent stack, enjoy
Wow…. I must audition !!!
What does the chord stack do better ?
We wanted to reduce box count and there’s no sign of Naim following this path.
I know of 2 other members of this forum with the same desire to simplify, who have sold their 500 series systems for this reason. None of us want to downgrade, in fact the opposite, we just want a more physically compact system.
As for sound quality, it’s a matter of personal preference. This forum is kindly made available and moderated by Naim, so a degree of discretion seems appropriate. I hope that is okay with you.
Meanwhile, the DAC-V1 and NAP140 based office system sounds fabulous.
Best regards, BF
Congrats on the new system. Did you consider running the Dave direct into the Ultima? My dealer didn’t think there was a gain to be had putting the preamp into the mix as I only have digital sources.
