Having such a huge amount of insight also shows which recordings are well mastered and which not so well I’m finding, especially since I put the XLR cables in which have made a surprising difference. Good recordings are nothing short of astonishing
I take it those TQ Ultra Black2 are bedding in nicely!
Quick pic of the beast
This is only temporary in a few weeks I’m going to rearrange the Fraim but for now very happy and the performance from the Mscaler is staggering.
Yes, usual up and downs but the ups are extraordinary. Unbelievable detail and insight and accoustic and live music sound scarily real. The whole system just needs to play and burn in now
Thanks Simon I will explore the world of cables in the New Year.
Yeah, I had a great time playing around with the TQ XLRs, so clear and real it’s unbelievable. Build quality is excellent as well.
If we are not careful, Naim might shut this thread down…it appears that anyone that tries the latest Chord products eventually jump ship.
At least a few of us are still using some Naim in their setup.
If the better half let me I’d get a Muso Gen 2 for the living room… I don’t think I’ve seen/heard a better all-in-one system… she’ll give in eventually
Well I am using my Naim NDX2 and Fraim… oh yes and Powerline
I better get a powerline !
Core and Fraim for me.
Nova and a couple of PowerLines.
I think Naim will be interested in what alternatives people are trying.
…and some of us are quite happy with all Naim components including cables and interconnects except for AV Options TibiaPlus12 Deep-Cryo AC power cables and currently have a home demo of the Chord English Electric 8 Switch. (but that should be included in another thread)
I don’t think Naim is to concerned since in a few year many will be moving on to the next audiophile gizmo being introduced to the market. …and I am very happy that so many do and report there finding back to the rest of us who sit mostly on the sidelines.
I have been interested in this companies cables for quite a while (XLR interconnects between my Linn KDS and headphone amp in a headphone system) however it appears they do not have any distribution in the States (there appears to be a dealer in Canada). Even in the UK I do not see any dealers listed however I believe Signals carries the line (and no longer carries Chord?).
Best
Gregg
Signals have not carried Chord for quite some time.
@HiFiman is that a Bluesound Node 2i I see in the picture? How does that fit in with system?
I have been considering getting one for the wide range of source access built in.
Have you migrated across now to Chord as your main DAC?
I saw in earlier posts that your preference was a Meridian streaming transport into an Audio Note DAC.
Sorry I am bit late to the party here.
This thread does pose a bit of a conundrum for those uncertain as to the best upgrade path to take. Having a 500 series pre & power amp and by comparison a lowly ndx2 streamer should one follow what I’m presuming is the more traditional route of adding a cd555ps then a nd555 with another cd555ps. Or as some have done here move on to a series of Chord components currently Dave and M Scaler, or even add the Chord components after the Naim upgrades. At this stage I’m tempted to stick with Naim and add other components later down the line. As always it’s down to trying to get the best from the system with available funds and within our allotted time.
the safe thing to do is update to an ND555.
but even the Hugo 1 could easily front a 500 series Naim amplifier, so maybe you may wish to try one out and hear what all the fuss is about. The equivalent of that for a brand new item is the Chord Qutest.
Apologies if you’ve already mentioned this, but have you tried the TT2 at any point?
I only ask as I was also considering adding the mscaler to my Innuos Zenith+Phoenix and Qutest set-up.
However the general consensus seems to be that the TT2 on its own is still better than the Qutest and mscaler combo.
