Very sad. Iā€™ve seen Soft Cell a few times but the last time I saw them a couple of years ago at Rochester Castle I thought he really didnā€™t look well.

They were still hanging around Leeds when I was a student there and we regularly saw them at the Phono (Le Phonographique), the club under the original Merrion Centre, on the once, and occasionally twice a week, soul nights. Fair to say they were both lovely lovely blokes but goodness did they cane it. Marc, if weā€™re being really honest, has never been the same person since the accident whilst it all caught up with Dave very badly and heā€™s been ill for quite some time.

Gosh, how sad, and only 66. I love Soft Cell and the Bedsitter 12ā€ is one of my all time favourite songs. Iā€™m playing it now. Rest in Peace, Dave.

Very sad to hear - so young! I never saw Soft Cell live but did get to see (and meet) Marc A at a HiFi show in Moscow, of all placesā€¦

The Phono! Where I proposed to this beautiful goth gal - my (now) wife - on one knee in the middle of the dance floor. It was our first proper date and my first time in Leeds - happy together ever since. A regular haunt for us in those daysā€¦

RIP Dave. Too damn young.

Nah, I donā€™t believe that :grin: . If you got down on one knee in the Phono you werenā€™t getting back up again. Youā€™d stick to that floor.

RIP. Loved his music, itā€™s the backdrop of some great memories from my teens and 20s. I didnā€™t much care for pop dance music but loved this music. Reminds me of some of the great clubs we had in Chicago in the early 90s. Sometimes I wish I could hop back in time and go out and rage for a weekend.
