Radio Station database update frequency

Good Morning

Finally received my streamer back from Naim after repair, it was supposed to only be 3 weeks but due to events outside everyone’s control it took 3 months.
The interface had been factory reset so Radio presets had been removed. Upon refettling things I could not find a particular radio station Wyldwood Radio, in the iRadio list.
I have checked that the station still broadcasts and checked Naims station list http://myradio.naimaudio.com/ After logging in with the NDX’s MAC address it was indeed listed and tried to associate it with the MAC but it did not quite work as I hoped it would, it didn’t. The other four stations are listed in the iRadio list but not the one I am trying to listen to. Is the iRadio database synced with the myradio.naimaudio database and if so how often?

Anthony

Hi Anthony,

If you browse to Location->Internet Only->Folk. You will find Wyldwood Radio listed. Play it, then press the ‘star’ icon to re-add it as a radio preset.

Thank you for the reply, I had not noticed the “internet only” option in the location sub menu and got quite excited  Unfortunately Wyldwood Radio is not listed :disappointed: so the quest goes on.
I know that it is within the global database, but my local version is perhaps out of date. Checking with Wyldwood Radio they do say that they have only just started retransmitting from 1st of July so perhaps my local app needs a bit of a tickle, to force an update, but I am unable to find a way of doing it.

Kind Regards

Hi Anthony,

I’ve attached a screenshot of the statiom in the Folk section. It’s right at the bottom of the list - plays fine as well in 320kbit mp3.

Dear Steve

I don’t doubt that you can access the station, l however, am unable to do so.
The two stations that bracket the one I am after WUMB Summer Acoustic and Yiddish Music are visible as in your screenshot it is just that Wyldwood Radio does not appear between them.
I have also tried searching for it using the front panel buttons on the NDX but it does not appear there either.

Kind Regards

If its its any help, which it obviously isn’t, I can’t see or find Wyldwood either.
I’ve tried Steve’s route & as its a Stafford UK station, I also tried in Location>UK.
I guess its over to Steve & vTuner …

One thing I have noticed, is that Naims Choice section has begun to be be populated with more stations, Times Radio and Fip which were not visible earlier are two which have appeared, so perhaps it is doing some kind of update on an adhoc, when it feels like it sort of schedule. Only wish it would get round to the W’s. Although Groove Salad is quite nice in the meantime.

Followed Steve’s instructions and it’s now playing on my Atom. Strange thing internet radio.

Oh well, I’ll give it another go later, I’m both commis & head chef tonight & need to crack on with prep.

Hi @Airhead

I see the problem. The station is broadcasting an https (encrypted) stream and the product you have currently doesn’t support this stream type. My screenshot was from a Uniti Atom that supports this.

I’ve written to the radio station to see if they have a http only stream.

Hi Steve

Doing a bit of a furtle around the issue and found that when listening on the internet, via a browser, the stream address is wyldwoodradio.torontocast.stream. I was intrigued as to what a torontocast was and while I was reading up on thier site they did state that torontocast do not support https streams. So I think that might be the normal non encrypted stream.
Any chance of having this stream added, please :pray:t2: if it is a non encrypted stream.

Yours hopefully

Anthony

Hi Anthony,

The address you mention isn’t a valid address - I’ve tried various permutations around that but can’t find any http (or https) stream that is on that URL.

The URL that VTuner are currently using is:
https://hazel.torontocast.com:2190/stream

That works, but the http equiv doesn’t exist.

Hi Steve

I probably added 2 and 2 together and got 1. Thought of saving a .pls file but that did not work either.
Do you think a future Naim firmware update will include a fix for this🤞

Kind Regards

Anthony

Hi Steve

Short update, I can now see the Wyldwood Radio icon where you have previously described it should be, but I get a momentary message saying something about the station being unavailable.
So perhaps it is work in progress, encouraging none the less.

Kind Regards

Anthony
