Do you have any tips on finding the Bullied build thread on Western Thunder? There is so much on there and a search didn’t produce the answer - couldn’t find Mick Davies (Mickoo?) either.
Had a search and it seems Mick’s been a bit quiet on his build’s at the moment, he does flit about a bit, as his mood takes him, he is a commercial loco Kit builder now by trade, so obviously that takes precedence.
I did find the following
I take it you have become a member so you could always drop him a line.
Hope this helps.

Thanks - using Finney did it…much appreciated.
Glad I could help.
Some progress on the latest boxfile.
Starting to fill in the background. The corner building is still under construction.
steve
That looks impressive, is there anywhere on the web or even published that lays out the foundations of using box files.
Gary
Thanks Gary.
There are several websites devoted to “micro” layouts, plus a section of RMWeb, but I don’t know of any set standards. There was an American called Carl Arendt who set up an online magazine devoted to micros who was very influential early on.
Many years ago I saw an article that showed one in a sadly now deceased magazine called Scale Model Trains by a chap by the name of Colin Peake. That was the first boxfile layout I had seen, although I believe Colin denies being their inventor.
After I’d seen that I just took the idea and ran with it. ![]()

Cheers Steve, I had forgotten about Carl Arendt, I’ll have a look and checkout RMWeb as well.
Thats a blast from the past ‘Scale Model Trains’ I’d forgotten about that as well!
As its raining here at the moment, and there’s nothing on the box, we are interested in, will do some investigating.
Gary
That guy must have a shed full of money as well. ![]()
Hi Pete, he mentions in a previous post, about how he finances the layout, and his current lifestyle, it’s been his lifelong dream to build Heaton and he’s living his dream.
Good luck to him.
Gary
I’m looking forward to seeing it finished. The detail and workmanship is amazing, I’d love it under my house.
Hi Pete,
You would end up with a very large house
I must admit, Australia offers a great variety of railway modelling scenarios, and challenges too with the choice of 3 railway gauges to choose from.
With your artistic background have you ever painted anything with a railway theme.
Gary.
I do seem to have caught the 7mm scale bug, these arrived today.
Mk 1 full brake.
BR CCT (Covered Carriage Truck)
And both together.
That reminds me, I finished painting my O Gauge carriage this year. It was sitting on the shelf for a couple of years so I thought I’d better get it sorted in case I have another medical emergency. I hate an unfinished project

The BG reminds me of my first day at University on 4th October 1982. Special train laid on from Paddington to Exeter St David’s and a BG at the Lawn end of the train for all the (properly labelled!) luggage, members of the Rugby club hurling it in through the doors. Then finding a seat not too far from the bar in the matching Mk 1 buffet car and meeting new people from as far away as Malawi and the recently rechristened Zimbabwe, chatting away for 3 hours or so.
I think every other trip I did was on the InterCity 125, and when travelling West I’d aim for the Cornish Riviera Express if I could. 2 hours from Paddington to Exeter, usually standing in the buffet car all the way but when you are 18-21, so what?
Nice Thompson Brake Composite. Whose kit?
steve
Beginnings of a parcels train behind one of your Heljan 27s Gary?

It’s a CRT kit. Came with every bit required including the interior, just needed to buy paint and transfers to complete. Very satisfying build.
