Just got a Marantz SA 12 to replace my deceased CDX 2.
It only has phono connections .
I believe that to use them into phono / RCA on the 282 I have to " reassign" then.
Can someone please explain how to do this. I have zero technical knowledge.

See page E9 which explains how to re-assign the inputs. You may want to look longer term at getting a 2xRCA to DIN cable but the info in the manual will get you going, using the RCA inputs to start with.

Absolutely loving it so far - just a few tracks in.
To me it sounds warm and rich but no less detailed than the CDX2.
Another joining the RCA is best club. 
Only option out of box.
Despite the fact that it’s a bog standard phono lead it sounds great.
Will be upgrading the interconnect.
Have you done a comparison between the Marantz and the Teac by any chance.
I’m still mulling over whether to go for one or the other.

I can only compare the CDX2 to the CD5i and CDX 2.
It is substantially better than the 5i even with a flatcap .
IMO it is on a par if not better than a bare CDX2. Yes it’s that good and for £1600 a real bargain.
The CDX2 with XPS DR just edges it as indeed it should.
All of that said I’ve heard stuff this afternoon on CDs with the SA 12 that I’ve never heard before.
Highly recommended.

I did put the TEAC into the 272 DAC as a try out when I got it but preferred my cd3.5/FC/Hiline combo into analogue Din.
I then preferred the Sa12 into analogue rca over the cd3.5 combo if that helps?

Good morning, can I ask where from,I’ve been looking at Peter Tyson for a black one but the website says it’s not available until the end of January.

I wasn’t too bothered and was happy to wait.
I placed my order on Tuesday. On Wednesday I got a message from DPD the delivery company saying that they would shortly have my parcel from Peter Tyson. I thought this was a mistake.
On Thursday morning I got an email and text saying they would be delivering between 10.45 - 11.45 and they arrived at 10.46!
I’ve never come across such a speedy response and excellent level of communication.
I understood, when I placed the order that PT were getting 15 Black and 10 silver SA12s. I believe that they may have been able to get extra stock , how many I don’t know.
What I can say is that it is a superb CDP and an incredible bargain . I’d grab the opportunity now.

Just called them and they don’t have any left, there’s 20 on order and 10 of them are spoken for. He recommended placing the order and then be patient.
The dpd driver would have delivered it earlier if he was allowed. Their system means they can only deliver in the hour given.
