Hello I have changed to a unity atom recently and although my Linn Kan IIs sound detailed they are lacking base and sound a bit ‘thin’. Any recommendations please.
There are lots of threads on this. Try putting ‘uniti atom speakers’ in the search.
I had a Unitilite and used it with MK1 Kans and got the same results as you. Very thin sound, it actually gave me a headache! I sold the Unitilite and went to separates. If you wanted to keep the Kans then adding a 250 could be the answer although that defeats the one box solution.
Neat and Proac both make some excellent small speakers. Best to go have a listen at your dealers and also get a home demo of possible as they can sound very different when you get them home.
Do you have a budget in mind?
Hi there,
I have a Uniti Atom with Kan IIs, a 40 year old refurbshed pair. I have a number of other Naim systems up to a fully active 500 series, and to be honest I find the Atom/Kan combination extraordinary for what it can do. The Kan was always noted for a gap in the lower registers. To balance this I have an Arcam subwoofer to bring the extra deep base below about 40hz. The other key thing I have done is to buy the original Kan stands (also a refurb) they make a big difference.
Having said all of that there are some amazing small speakers out there, I also used a pair Q Acoustics 2020’s, and Acoustic Energy AE1’s. These both benefitted from a sub, and I felt the Kan’s gave me the best sound so gave these other speakers to family members.
Good luck in your search
Thats a generel topic everyday on various platforms.
How many speakers are there WW ?
Thousands indeed.
Without giving further detail from OP, how on earth should people be able to provide a serious recommendation.
Spendors can work well with Naim.
Answer with the most expensive or most obscure you can think of;
Marten Parker duo diamonds would totally outclass the atom, but if you have deep pockets ….
Or wharfdale diamond 9s.
It’s the diamonds, you see!
Budget, room size, sound preference? Or is all that irrelevant to you?
A second vote for Spendors, either bookshelf or the smaller tower speakers. I had a Naim Nova and the Spendor A4 sounded really good in combination. I went for Harbeth in the end, but the Spendors were very good, a relaxed sufficiently detasiled sound.
Although, I really like Harbeth, the Unity Atom is a littlke light on power to sufficiently drive them imo.
I use an Atom with Shahinian Compasses upstairs - it is surprisingly good.
There are lots of speaker options - as others have said, what suits will depend on your room, your ears and your preferences.
Wharfedale Lintons would work well with an Atom, though I would take the very different Neat iota Alphas (ideally s/h or ex-dem). Adding a sub to the Kans and properly integrating it might well be more effort, but that too is worth considering and should preserve what you (and many of us) like about the Kans.
Which of these (or myriad options) will suit you best can probably only be heard by you hearing them.
Neat Motive SX2
A bit more information on eg. room size and taste in music would help narrow down the choice.
I run my Atom with wall mounted Neat Iotas which work well in the small room I use as an office, but in a larger space, I’d probably go for something larger and more sensitive.

Many thanks for your thoughts, the idea of using the Kans with a sub woofer is appealing as I really enjoy them apart from the light bass. Do you have any advice on connecting a sub to the atom - do you use a filter and do you connect in parallel to both channels?
I have been listening to PMCs but not totally convinced.
