Anybody heard one outside the Bristol show? I was at my local dealer in London this week and they’ve said that it’s pretty impressive with the ND9 (was the first time I think they’ve heard that cart.)
They also seem to think that it’s going to be available for retail in about four to six weeks. And £2k - unless anyone has heard differently.
I never understood what the RS models were used for… take a little of the higher model to get closer, might as well take the higher model for hardly more expensive…
In this case, it looks like a pretty significant difference; the P8 with an ND7 is €3,099 over here. A P6 RS with the same arm and an ND9 would be €2,200 I think.
And TBH, I don’t think I could get away with the look of the P8 w Mrs. Finkle.
Available in upcoming months, its possible only dealer network that have had a chance to hear P6rs.
I can’t imagine any dealer review being anything but positive, they sell for a living. I’d wait for owner/user reviews. (Bet a lot of old P6 will be available on the s/h market this year.)
But, I understand your eagerness, its exiting how close P6rs comes to a P8, at a lower cost, and for those not wanting Skeletal looks.
Refreshing new products from Rega, while others release nothing
Now, if they’d put the Rb3000 on the 6RS, that would really upset things. As it is in the UK I’d expect people to buy what they like the look of. There are a few that will prefer the traditional look of the 6 over the 8.
The difference in price between the P3RS and the P6 with ND5 wasn’t insignificant. In a perfect world I’d have a NAIA. If my circumstances changed terribly I’d get a P1. They all sound great.
Has anyone seen one of these in person yet? I’m looking at the website and the RS plinth seems to closely resemble the shade of metal on the N50. Is that accurate? Always hard to tell from an online picture. Here’s what I saw:
It’s a significant chunk of change. I couldn’t afford the P6 so I got the P3RS. I’m not deluded; it’s not a P6 lite. It’s the best ever P3 and that’s not too shabby. As someone has mentioned already the P8 upwards are not to everyone’s taste in terms of looks. So that makes the P6RS an even better upgrade from the P6. The RS is the best TT I could get away with. If Rega gifted me a NAIA my wife would make me modify my shed because she wouldn’t have it in the house.
Ya, to be clear, I had an ND7 put on my P6 right when the ND9 was released. I was able to listen to the ND7 some but as soon as the ND9 came in I was able to trade up to the ND9. The ND9 is definitely better as I describe in the ND9 thread. Ed Selley’s review is a little ambiguous about comparison with the P6 but does leave an open question about the importance of the ND9 in the whole thing…
I will find out soon enough because I’m curious enough to do a side by side between the P6 and P6RS when it hits my dealer…and will report back (in the colonies out in Seattle so it will take a little while)…
