we did a “dance test” yesterday and the hifi furniture it will stand on certainly moves/is impacted. This is neither good for a rega nor lp12 I understand from talking with a dealer. Both need a stable platform. When it comes to floor bounce, he also said that there are not great stabilization bases/ solutions out there. They mainly work against vibrations from the music..
so what I will do next is to try to homedemo either a LP12 maybe selekt or Rega any model to see if the vibrations are a problem or not. If they are a problem, then its either just sticking w ND555 (which we love) or testing a technics (although not so keen on the DJ look)

Technics SL-1000R is their latest reference turntable at ND555 price level, minus the DJ look.

Any experience with the SL-1200GME master edition? Is it much better than the normal models or just with some frills?
Technics are great from an ease of use and longevity/hard use point, no surprises there but they are not immune to either footfall or other vibrations as is. There are suspension feet they use for pro use as I observed when visiting a brilliant jazz bar in London. I believe they solve most problems and look decent too. Around 150 quid for a set (below are the ones they use). If you have kids I’d keep away from the DJ decks and get a plain one without all the sliders, lights and knobs …

That comes supplied with high quality feet.
I can kick my rack and it has no effect.
It’s very difficult to get the needle to miss-track. Even lowering and raising the arm while playing a record doesn’t make the needle miss-track.

Which Riaa and Pickup setup are you using w Technics to get most Prat/Naim type sound?
The RP10 is a great TT and should keep anyone happy for many years but it does need a good solid platform to sit on for best results. Often the best solution is a rigid shelf attached to a wall.
Just because there is no suspension does not mean it will play well on a unit on a suspended floor or not be disturbed by jumping about on the floorboards.

It’s the reason I had a granite shelf under it. It doesn’t change the sound character, but allows to play with no skip if dancing near or walking.
I just read the Stereophile review of it last month. The author ended up buying the table he reviewed.
As I understand GME is a limited edition - but you never know…
So were 1200GAE, but 1200G that followed were identical, with no cartridge to differ.
I read elsewhere about a guy who had a few QC issues with his GME.
Another guy preferred 1300G vs 1200G or GME, I bet both would be nice to own.
The highest I went in Technics hierarchy was a GR, lousy armlift lever, otherwise great deck.

according to the article it is limited due to certain components that will no longer be produced by Techniques. They are basically using them up with this turntable and then not producing them anymore. I’m not exactly sure which component it is but it was stated in the article. I don’t know much about the 1200 outside of DJ use. I did not realize that they had high end versions for audiophiles.
My wife does the very same thing.
When I’m thinking of buying something, I show her a photo something else, that is pretty hideous.
When I tell her I’ve changed my mind and show her what I was going to buy all along, she is usually very enthusiastic that I buy that.
Maybe your wifes reaction is down to the fact that she doesn’t want you to buy the P10.

she surely does not want the rega, but I was really surpriced she likes the technics. My preferred is the LP12, but she says it looks dull and old.
So guess I did not play this the right way
i trying to demo the technics. If its fun, engaging and makes me want to put on more records, good that the family think its cool. If it does not make my foot tap, its a lot of money for something you dont want to listen to, but has a cool factor.
I am still exploring if there is an “invisible” shelf option for the LP12. One dealer found a glas version that might make it look like LP12 is floating a bit above my hifi furniture. For listening and getting to ND555 i expect LP12 to be best likely in Selekt as the new upgraded Klimax seems very expensive +30pct on the old version
any ideas on such a glass / similar shelf?

Clearly your wife’s opinion matters
Matters a lot! We have the system in the middle of our living rooms and its getting used by all family members all the time. Thats great, but also means its very visible.
My naim system is well hidden in hifi furniture from clic but the turntable will be very visible. So then it has to be a family decision / something we are all excited about..
Maybe can spice up the LP12 with a RAL colored plinth
