Rega service

It’s a bit of an an unusual choice for what appears a simple application. Hypoid oil typically was in gearboxes with noisey meshing gears. With additives to deal with the " extreme pressures". Maybe that’s what the bearing sees?
Anyway so long as the correct hypoid SAE 80 or whatever it should be I can’t see that 2 drops will be a major purchase.
But yes, you’d need to use the correct oil.

Perhaps this is all harks backs to Rega’s automotive roots.

This seems to support the hypothesis that the manufacturer wants hypoid oil to be used.
In any case, my understanding is that Regas are oiled for life at assembly.

It could very well be. Mine had been in storage for 15 years though and the oil was gummy. If it had been used, that might not have happened. The queuing arm was a bit stiff at first, but came good after a few days. A simple, but well made and lovely
piece of kit.

…sounds like a bear waking from hibernation!
One of the advantages of Rega’ s selected engineering principles is that with more simplicity there is less to fail/go out of alignment. Less is more!

yep hypoid gear oil…

No oil Karousel
