As someone fiercely opposed to running subwoofers on a two channel system, I have just picked myself up a REL Subwoofer. I currently have it connected to the back of my right hand speaker via the high-level input on the subwoofer and all is well. As the main speakers go pretty low, the subwoofer is set to only do the very low frequencies just to add a little weight, however should I run a cable to the left speaker to make use of the stereo input on the subwoofer? My gut feeling is yes But my question is as I’m running mono blocks Is there anyone out there doing this already?
Yellow to positive left
Red to positive right
And black to either Left or right neutral. ( Obviously not both at the same time )
I’m confident how to wire it up correctly it’s just the fact there monoblocks that’s making me think just leave as is.
Thanks in advance
I connected mine (at the back of the speakers) just as if it was a single box stereo amplifier and it worked fine. If you read the REL advice on monoblocs it says use two subwoofers.
Apparently Bass is typically Mono, so shouldn’t be needed.
I have run a single REL sub in tha past, connected to the speakers terminals. I pulled the cable apart so I could connect red to the right speaker and yellow and black to the left speaker.
REL is clear in their documentation that if you connect to the amp’s terminals you need to use two subs for mono-bloc amps. You could also contact REL’s tech support with questions. Their service is very good.
Stereo connection is recommended. Try it with your 350s. It worked with mine, causing no problems. But, yes, note the REL recommendation. I’m running active now and find I don’t get much benefit from the subwoofer.
Thank you to everyone that’s responded. I will just keep it as is and should I go for a second one then use the left channel.
