Replacing original Naim boxes: Update

I seem to remember a discussion somewhere on ordering replacement original boxes, but can’t seem to find the thread w the search function. So apologies if this has been covered in detail previously.

Just realised that I’ve thrown out a bunch of boxes (not Naim ones) but the ones I did bin were the ones that my second hand 172 and 155 came in. Can you still order slimline component boxes w interior packaging from the factory?

If anyone knows, would appreciate quick heads up on the process. Thx

I’ve had a few through my dealer. They are £75 a pop though!!

Pretty expensive cardboard, but if you need it you need it.

Yes and I even knew this when I threw them all out.

I lived in a small flat at the time and the cost of the boxes, overpriced though they were, was way cheaper than a year of a tiny 2m sqr storage locker, let alone six years worth.

Your dealer can order them and ship internationally. You only get replacement product labels though if you send the item to Naim for servicing so you will get boxes and foam ears only. No labels and no inner bags.

Like anything from Naim, if you want it, ask an authorised dealer.

I’m ok w that. Just need a sturdy box and the interior styrofoam to keep them in place. I can wrap them myself and Sharpie the info onto the box.

Take a picture of your back plate, adjust the size. Print it out and stick it on your box. Looks good in my view. You can even tweek it with photoshop or PowerPoint to add the Naim arch.

That’s just plain brilliant.

Thanks! I use 3. One on the outer box, as shown, one on the inner box in the same position and one on the side of the inner box where the cut out in the outer box is so it shows through. Helps me know what is stored where.

Here in the UK, Naim can supply original boxes complete with inserts, etc. , however, probably only for current/recent hardware….. and, as posted earlier, they’re not cheap.

On the other hand, Naim supplied me with replacement cardboard outer boxes for my NC kit foc, they tend to get pretty trashed in transit…..

Thx - I just emailed the factory to see what’s possible. Think it’s a longshot, but will report back here once I hear.

Guess its a lot more difficult to ship Naim SBL/NBL/DBL loudspeakers without having the original boxes.

I sold my own SBL decades ago to a fine German gentleman, he collected in person.

BTW, I managed to move around with my Ovator 400 boxes, heck they fill a small room, one may need a truck to handle the S800 boxes

Update:

Got a response from the factory this morning.

First off, kudos to the Naim staff. I’m always impressed with their turnaround time and helpfulness. I only emailed the general mailbox yesterday midday. Something to be said for excellent customer service in this world today.

They still have slimline boxes available (didn’t indicate level of stock though.) But you can’t order direct from the factory, so needs to go through a dealer. He’s said that if they don’t stock them (which is highly likely) then they can place a backorder for them.

Will email my local guys here in Deutschland and see where we get to.

My sense is that these are in short supply, so if you need them probably act sooner rather than later.

More to come.
