Right Channel stopped working

Looking for some advice and guidance… my set up is as follows:
NAC 282 + NAP 250 DR + NDX2 + HICAP DR all connected with standard NAIM cables - driving a pair of PMC 5.21i. I also have a Panasonic DP-UB9000 connected to the TV via HDMI and connected to the NDX2 with a coax cable, The TV is also connected to the NDX via an optical cable.

Today for some reason the right hand channel stopped making any sound - I swapped the speaker cables (left channel going to right channel) and so I know that it’s not the speakers that are the problem.

So the question is how do I determine of the issue is with the NAC282 or the NAP 250DR or the HICAP?

I will try connecting the Panasonic to the NAC282 via the analogue sockets so that I can rule out the NDX2 - but if that doesnt resolve the problem - how do I determine if the issue is with the 282 or the 250 or HICAP?

What happens if you press the mono button on 282 (top row source buttons) ?

Are you using a Hi Line Din? I had one in my old set-up and one channel stopped working. Turned out to be a loose connection in the cable and I had to send it off for repair, which Naim service did for free. Was very good of them.

Do you have other cables you could use in the system to see if it is your current ones? Need to eliminate things step by step.

Tank you for both for your suggestions - when I put the 282 in to mono mode - the right channel is still dead…
In relations to the cables - I do have a an additional 5-pin din to 5 pin din, which I will swap out between. but i dont have a spare of the other cables - I will see if my local dealer has any spare cables I can borrow for the afternoon, otherwise I will have to take both the 282 and 250 DR into his shop to see which one of the units having the issue

As you’ve found the right channel is still dead when the 282 source selection mono button is pressed, then the problem is going to be in the amp setup or cables between 282, Hicap and 250.

As you say, taking it to your dealer and substituting known working components and cables will help track down the faulty item.

Let us know how you get on.

James_n,

Turns out you were spot on - it was the cable 282 and the hicap…

Dealer gave me a new one - thankfully it was only a cable…

Thanks for the suggestions
