I’ve got a fantastic CD of Sir Andrew Davies doing Hector Berlioz which has proved to be an annoying little sod, in that Track 7 kept coming up as error. So after an injection of caffeine I turned the CD drive on its side and yep it then ripped perfectly!

For the odd problem track that just won’t rip, if using EAC, turn off secure mode and also select burst mode. It can allow the laser to read over some imperfections without them leading the laser off course. I wouldn’t use that for my standard rips but if you just can’t get a glitch free playable one, it is a handy method for the odd gremlin track.

The caffeine was to me but there were moments when I could have poured the coffee over the disc drive!
