Looking for wisdom, I am sold on the SQ and benefits of using a newer streamer whilst keeping my wonderful NDS as the DAC, especially as I use Roon which I love.
The question is do I still need to have Sonore Bridge with Squeezebox streaming to get the multi-room function in sync?
Apart from my main system I have 3 x Musos around the house and I love music playing where ever I am .
You don’t need it, the ND5XS2 is Roon ready so your Roon core can find it and serve music to it directly.
Using the digital output to a separate DAC doesn’t change that.
Roon Multiroom will work with your Muso2 and other 2nd gen Naim streamers, but if you want to add a 1st gen Muso to a multiroom group you would have to use Roon’s Airplay grouping for all streamers.
Note that some of us are having a synchronisation problem with Muso 2 (and others) and Roon multiroom. At present I don’t know when / if there’ll be a fix. Details on the Roon forum and here: Out of Sync Naim Muso?
Prey what sq benefits does an external streamer bring to an nds? It may have obsolete streaming hardware but I doubt alternative streamers offer better sq, and with decent WiFi and 4.8 firmware I have no issues with streaming on my trusty nds
Excellent news that you are happy with your set up, that is what we all seek to achieve.
I agree I love the sound of my NDS and my olives. However there are some limitations, if one wants to use Roon and multiroom, the transport technology is outdated, hence my post, If you are interested I suggest you do a search.
P.S. I am nobody’s “prey” !
