Target volume level = -14LUFS and volume levelling = album
Apart from having a more even volume when listing to say a playlist, to me, there is no adverse impact on SQ but some here would no doubt have an issue.
This attenuation applied also provides headroom to avoid clipping when I apply some light dsp.
For me Roon does this very effectively but as ever YMMV.

I have been a Roon user for almost 7 years (I bought a Roon Nucleus in December 2019). It performed flawlessly until around 10 months ago when it started to play up. I replaced it a few months ago with the new Nucleus One which also is performing flawlessly and was only half the price of the original Nucleus. I think it looks better too although it is not as solidly built. I find Roon excellent for controlling my Naim NDX2 streamer and the several Naim Muso QBs I have in different rooms. It presents all my digital music sources (ripped CDs on both a Naim Uniti Core and a Melco as well as streamed music from Qobuz) as a single integrated library.
can you play on all your systems playing through Roon? Assuming that you have more than one system, I just got Roon and it plays everywhere - including my main set up as I have four systems, Mu-so in the bedroom, Naim Unit in the kitchen and full Arcam av system in the lounge, pure music system in the loft office/bedroom (ATCSC20ASL’s/Chord Hugo TT2, and Naim NDx5 XS2 - btw for this this who saw my topic about not needing a streamer and using a computer instead - well having rated tad about all that…I brought the NDX5 back and its easier, so er…the less said about that slightly embarrassing rant (sorry exploration, curiosity and legitimate questioning of benefits of a streamer vs good old laptop, and now the full U-turn the better). Though if anyone is REALLY interested, feel free to ask - I’ll endure the pain and embarrassment for the good of the community… ) - that aside new set up is all controlled by my MacBook air. Roon was/is a revelation - identified and played through the lot (every ‘box’') simultaneously through the house. Previously I had install the studio Audirvana- and sadly went for the annual subsection hey ho - but I couldn’t link it to entire house. which is what I wanted, in the best quality possible. Yours, a very very happy new Roon user (which I’d assume before was for exclusively for those with full phat digital library to manager, I don’t). Pure streamer me. Physical formats dead to me. and thats someone who worked and sold physical formats for 20yrs.
