with a reel to reel, LP’s, DAT, CD recorder, TV, tuner, cassette, stream i’ve run out of inputs and tape loops
is there a down side to plugging two different sources to the same input using the din and RCA simultaneously?

I think that’s something that is to be avoided. Better to look at something like a tape switch box for your recorders. The QED units of old are very good quality, widely available secondhand (at least here in the UK) and usually very inexpensive.
