Running in built-in phono stage

I have a new Nait 50 that Ive had for a few days that I am delighted with. Now, assuming running in an amplifier is a real thing, with some saying that amplifiers improve after the first few days, would I need to be playing records through the phono stage to run it in?

You’ll need to be playing music through the speakers with the volume up in order to run it in. I wouldn’t worry about it. Just listen to music when you want to and everything will come good. How long it takes depends on how often you listen to music.

But specifically through the phono stage?

Yes play through the phono stage. Although just being energised i.e. the amp being on will help even if you’re not playing LPs on your TT.

Most if not all phono stages, whether integrated or separate, will improve while running in. Most noticeable improvements should come in the first couple of days and tail off after that in smaller incremental improvements and after a week or so be on song. Whilst it will be quicker than when new, if you turn off the amp/phono stage for a while I(f you go on holiday for example) , it will also take a couple of days to get back to full form.

I agree, even just power it on without playing music would help. I did take video records of running-in on different days, with the same song, same volume, at the same position. The difference is obvious and audible hearing with earphones.
