I did post an entry in the ‘Interesting TV’ topic but just wanted to highlight for those that might be interested, Runrig: The Last Dance, the band’s final performance from 2018 is on the Sky Arts Channel this evening.
I was there for the last concert,in fact ten of us travelled up to the show, made a weekend of it,and have since bought the blue ray,cd box set etc.But for anyone who didn’t go,or has little knowledge of Runrig,it’s a must, what a fantastic gig.
fantastic! that must have been one heck of an experience - this one looked very special.
We were there, what a gig the music was fantastic and I don’t think there was a dry eye amongst the 25000 crowd at the end when goodbyes had been said.
Little moments during it like a skein of geese flying over whilst they were doing going home. Who could have planned that!!!
Malcolm doing On the Edge from the battlements.
We were on a caravan site nearby and everybody was going to the concert, Runrig t shirts everywhere. It was like a big party.
Seen them many times back in the day. Fantastic live shows. Got to meet the guys backstage at London Forum. For pure emotion I did prefer the Donnie Monro farewell at Sterling, but this last show was brilliant.
Thankyou, put on record for tonight
Watched it despite having the blue ray,a bit disappointed to see that it was edited by around a third, missing several highlights, understand broadcasting restraints, but if it was your first experience of Runrig, you were sold short, but if you liked what you saw, make the effort and buy the dvd/blue ray.
many thanks Lorro, that is a shame. I have it recorded and started to watch this morning so see what you mean. Looks like Bluray it is. Even through this recording the atmosphere looks something special - must have been even more incredible to have been there - I can only imagine. It reminds me of the concerts we are missing at the moment
Yes,missing live music like crazy. It was a very special atmosphere at Sterling, but obviously it was also very sad,but the blue ray gets a fairly regular spin just to remind us what a great band they were.
I often use Road and the River from the Mara album as a system tester, the tapping at the start is a nice treble test and the ultra low bass notes!
I love Runrig, is one of my absolute favourites. Had also a priviledge to be at Last Dance in Sterling, as well as the one some 20 y before inside Sterling Castle
