SACD player with analogue outs

In most cases, HDMI is the only port on an SACD player that will pass DSD files. So, if you use the digital coax or optical output of that Sony, it will convert your SACD to PCM, thus defeating the whole point.

Although it is a wacky endeavor, I highly recommend ripping the SACD layer to a NAS and streaming DSD (DSF) files to a compatible Naim device (NAC N-272, in my case).

(Charles64, if you’ve got a sizable SACD collection, you should give it a try.)

See my posts in the “CD Player in 2021” and “SACD File Conversion bitrates” threads. I’m happy to provide more info.

Thanks.

Yes, I will read these two topics again, but I currently don’t have any means with which to rip a SACD disc.

I don’t use a computer anymore, only a tablet for work and an Innuos Zenith for ripping CD material.

You may want to look at a pre loved Oppo BDP 103, which has both digital and analogue out. They are RCA, not DIN, though.

I have Oppo BDP 103d and using it with KanexPro HAEXCOAX. It’s a HDMI audio de-embedder. It has toslink and rca coaxial outputs. You can convert hdmi to coaxial and connect to any dac. I’m using it with my Naim 272.

Pity you don’t have a PC anymore. If you did, the Oppo BDP-103 has a trick up its sleeve…

You can download a simple programme to a USB pen drive, insert it in the front USB port on a networked BDP-103, pop in the SACD you want to rip then - using a simple Windows app (ISO2DSD) - rip the SACD to DSD64 files which you can transfer to your Zenith and play from there. The sound quality is superb (from good quality recordings).

I have a Denon DCD-2500NE SACD player - which, whilst yielding a better SQ than the BDP-103, can not beat playing the DSD64 (.DSF) files from my networked QNAP NAS via my Auralic streaming transport.

I had a Denon DBT-3313UD BluRay transport but it had stereo analogue audio output for CD and SACD. The quality of the machine was astounding and the transport mech superb. Discontinued for several years now so if you can find one second hand, go for it.

If you can the yamaha cds-1000 is a great sacd player with analogue out which i think is the only way to listen to sacd format and the yam standard cd playback is also to a very high standard as long as set up right. Grounding the casework of this double insulated player also gives a nice uplift in SQ too. SH prices i dont know about though maybe 500 or so.

Yes, I did like the look and some reviews of that but it’s not easy to get hold of either new or used in the UK.

I went for a Denon 1600NE in the meantime, but that is likely to be swapped out shortly for an Oppo or similar with universal disc capabilities, as I am lining up a surround system to integrate into my current 2.1 set up.

I have one MARANTZ SA8400, one PIONEER BDP - LX58 an one beautiful MARANTZ SA7001 KI

I like it! A player for every occasion, with the ability to specialise in every disc format.

Im not sure if theyre selling this cds-1000 anymore but i’ll be shortly in the market for the Yam cds-2100 which has an upgraded dac and features from the ref cds-3000 model. I’ll be selling mine but the sacd capability is intermittant and am not sure if it can be fixed or the cost of repairing it. But i do think the yamaha CDP are something to behold and to listen to, the sq really is sublime and they are amazingly well built.
