Same cable, but XLR to RCA instead of XLR to XLR

My dealer says that if I modify my XLR to XLR Chord signature cable to XLR to RCA , the sound will degrade.
Is it true? Had someone had this experience?

Has he explained why?

He was not convincing, the why I ask. He just said that fully balanced sounds better.

Well it certainly won’t be a balanced connection, but balanced isn’t necessarily better than single ended anyway.

Presumably the item you want to hook up is RCA only so better or worse is a moot point.

It’s true Chord probably have a high standard of soldering in their plugs. Perhaps your dealer thinks you’ll simply not fit RCA plugs to the Chord standard.
