Yes, in this case, it’s a sort of instant and very low quality form of qualitative research.
But because the program has zero understanding of how to interpret the data it finds on one or two websites to create a post for a non-paying user, it will often just make a generalisation about the text it found, but can completely lack common sense and any expertise or insight into the actual subtleties of the topic.
The tube system will remain, although I will use the tube DAC frequently, the Naim bolt down setup with the DBLs will be another system for another room.
I’ve got the NAT 01 now as well so I’ll be setting that up as the main source for the bolt down gear and then the tube DAC will substituted in and out of both systems.
this will be the first time I’m running two completely different systems but I just have to do it.
From a personal point of view, that is a very interesting quote by your dealer. As someone who has just bought passive ATC SCM20PSLT paired with a 500DR the replay is superb, great synergy. I’ve not had the chance to listen to any ATC active speakers but in the future if I decide to downsize this is the direction I was thinking of going, I’ll probably just stick as is.
I’m not at all surprised to find a reviewer preferring passive ATCs driven by a 500 to actives, but I still find active brings something special to the party. ATC themselves state that active allows independent control of level and phase with much improved image stability. That’s what I hear: the performers’ position on the sound stage is precise and unvarying in a way no passive setup I’ve heard, including big Focals driven by a full Statement set, quite manages. Of course, different aspects of the performance may be more important to other listeners, but I’m addicted to the active listening experience.
