A good reason for having foam grilles fitted is to prevent little children from pressing the tweeter button, and let’s face it; to the eyes of little kiddie-winkles they do look very much like buttons that need a good pressing.

When I had a young family, years ago, and my turntable was packed safely away, I had the foam grilles taped on with black electrical tape to help prevent accidental access to those tweeter buttons!

Had SBLs for 35 years and have obviously tried both. Honestly, I have not found a difference but use them on simply as that is the recommendation from Naim. I also prefer the look of them on.
