Seeking help

Recently, I disconnected my main Naim set and took the set out of the cupboard in which I keep it because dome work had to be done to the cupboard. After placing back the set and reconnecting all cables in the same manner as before, I cannot get any sound out of the system. Previously, I had no issues. All Naim logos are burning green as they should. The Naim App responds OK. Software is up to date. The ND5XS2 is connected to internet via cable. No issues with internet elsewhere in the house. Any ideas welcome about what goes wrong.

Can you plug a different source in to test whether it’s an issue with the streamer/DAC side or the amp side?

Are you using DIN or RCA as the ND5XS2 may have reverted to the default of DIN (if you are using RCA)

I am using din all the time

Mute button?

Good idea, I will connect my cd player and see what happens. Will report back.

Yes, cd player working!

As @thebiglebowski mentions your ND5 may have switched output over to the RCA sockets rather than DIN . Have you confirmed this is not the case ?

have you tried switching off and unplugging both streamer and router - wait a few minutes then restart router and when that is up and running restart streamer - this has worked for me in the past

I connected the streamer to aux1. I thought you can only switch between din and rca on aux2 (and cd)?

I meant on the ND5. You have two outputs, DIN and RCA. You said you are using the DIN outpu so should check in the app that this output is enabled.

OK, will check.

Having just looked at your profile, you have a Naim DAC - are you connecting the the ND5XS2 digital output to that, and then the output from the Naim DAC into the 282 ?

Yes, I do. So, digital out from streamer to digital input on dac and then din from dac to preamp aux 1

Ok, so when you play something on the ND5, does the sync light, light up on the Naim DAC ?

No that does not light up

You need to check you’ve got the digital output enabled on the ND5 (via the app) and check your connections - are you using the right output socket on the ND5 and right input on the Naim DAC. Once you see the sync light, light then you know it’s receiving a digital signal from the ND5 and can troubleshoot further from there if there is still no sound.

Hi James, when I reconnected the connection to internet streamerside, the streamer started working again. Sorry to have bothered you with what ultimately was a minor issue. It seems solved. Thank you and the other respondents for your help.
