Shoebox size rack recommendations please

Hi

I’m looking for recommendations for a shoebox sized rack to take CB Nac 32. Nap140. Snaps.

Any ideas appreciated

Thanks

Where are you and what’s your budget?

@Lionel1 How wide are you looking for a rack to be? You might want to look at the SolidSteel racks, but they may be too wide.

Ideally you’d have a shoebox sized source, but you have not mentioned what your source is.

I’ve see really good home produced racks for Cyrus gear. Made from wooden kitchen cutting blocks and stud bar.

Simon Little makes fantastic racks for Cyrus gear so would be great for shoebox Naim. Not cheap though hence my question about location and budget. If the OP wants something cheaper then Atacama make a specific half width rack

That’s the one made by Atacama I was referring to

Exactly my needs since long.

I asked around for rack opportunities for Nait 50 - Rega Apollo CD (half width) - Rega Neo - Rega P8.

The width need to be a bit more than half width to make room for P8 on top - in fact a rather compact turntable in itself. Also place for Apollo CD need a “good” bit of air upwards to make room for top loading.

I’d simply need a Quadrasphire Q4, 65% of it or thereabout.

Thanks all; I’m in the UK not a big budget as for second system and with half width Rega or Cyrus Cd.

The Simon Little rack is a bit too chunky for what I’m looking for.

So will check out the Atacama & Quadrasphire

not sure if good for Naim sonic-wise.

Quadraspire Midi

“Shoebox” is not an exact form factor. Generally anything where both front and side is less than 30cm is shoebox and some makers do their shoeboxes side-on with near identical dimensions to a HiCap but with the long edge as the front. Allows for another type of elegant placement on very shallow cabinets etc.

The Quadraspire Midi looks identical to the full size, just in miniature. It’s 20cm narrower than the full size. I have used one for years for two shoebox systems.

The Luxman

The TEAC

And for a period of 6 years it housed the HiCap and Headline plus an elegant lamp. In terms of coping with the variability of “shoebox”, the Quadraspire is a classic choice.

That looks as if it’s (almost) the width of a rack for full size components, so seemingly takes away one advantage of the shoebox size.

Twice the width, half the height!

It looks quite striking and I like the look of it

Why not get a normal sized rack and put 2 components together on each shelf?

I have used Fraim that way .. it works well - and works well with the rear centre support for wiring connection

Only works for some shoebox components though. If it’s Cyrus or Naim fine. But if it’s another type of shoebox where it is sideways, you’ll only fit one to a shelf still.

Have a walk round your nearest IKEA for some inspiration & meatballs! I’ve seen lots of really nice looking audio storage options that have been adapted from IKEA products over the years.

There’s an Ikea wine rack that could fit the bill, shown here with a 42, NAT 101 and snaps

What a great, and likely cheap solution.
