Only if it’s not been serviced before.
Also you have to weigh up cost against value.

It’s worth calling Darren at Class A to get a quote, if you are in the UK. He hasn’t done many as they are only just coming up for service interval. I have an XS of same period, which whilst sounding fine, could likely do with a tune up.

Thanks for that. I am in Malaysia, so I will ask my dealer for recommendations. He is a good bloke. I note you say ‘only just coming up for service interval’. I didn’t even know there is a service interval! I suppose the reason I asked about servicing is because of the climate here - hot and humid - it seems to have quite an effect on any kind of electrical equipment. For example - I noticed the ports on the rear of the Nait - that I don’t use - are oxydised!

The recommended service interval for most Classic series kit is around 15 years.

When should I service my Naim equipment?

According to Naim: “This is a question often asked, and the Naim Service Department recommendations are as follows: for the Chrome bumper (circa 1975 to 1989) and Olive (circa 1989 - 2000) range products, we recommend every 8 - 10 years and for the newer Black products (2000 - present), every 12 - 15 years.” When asked about wear rates, component degradation and servicing on current equipment, Steve Sells commented as follows;

When i spoke to Darren at Class A, he said he wouldn’t bother at 10 for anything in classic range other than the Nap250. In fact Darren mentioned he’s likely only ever serviced one NaitXS as they were not really old enough until now (being 15 years).
