How to you find them tightly placed in corners? Do you get any problems with bass emphasis?

Not in the slightest

Interesting how rooms vary. My 40s are active and I really need to have them half a metre out from the rear wall and over a metre from the side walls for the best imaging. And that’s with Linn’s Space Optimisation on. But I think the actives may be more prone to provoking room resonances.

Agree Roger, those 40’s are pretty powerful and in my room they like room to breathe. If I had a bigger room I would be keeping them…

Gratuitous update.

It depends a lot of the surface materials of the room. For example, if those walls are thin partition walls and the floor is floating wooden floor then the bass might just go through without causing problems. You might even have weak bass in rooms like this. Then again, if everything is thick concrete, there will be problems.

Also, here’s my current rig. The speakers look the same but are a different pair of 50ASL’s. I actually got a chance to swap my matte black 50’s to black ash (which is the finishing I originally wanted), so I did it.

Lovely system there, just curious, do you now have the Mola Mola Makua Preamp. ? If so, is it with the Tambaqui Streamer / DAC board ?

It’s preamp only. Local dealer had Mola Mola Tambaqui and Makua as second hand units. I borrowed them both. My own setup was DAC200 + Pass Labs XP-12. I tried all combinations and liked DAC200 + Makua the most. Tambaqui + Pass Labs came in second place. Full Mola Mola was little bit too intense for me.

New review of SCM20ASL at The Ear.

" Conclusion

I have to say that the SCM20ASLs have nailed it for me. These apparently simple and relatively compact loudspeakers get to the parts that few others do and make the music so appealing that doom scrolling is no longer a thing. They may not have DSP electronics offering all manner of tweaks but this is very much in their favour. The SCM20ASLs are an all analogue, linear power supplied musical truth conduit that will have you glued to your music for years to come.

I would go so far as to say that they are a cure for audiophilia nervosa: you’re no longer thinking about how to make the system better but just wondering which album to play next. Upgrades to the signal path are however always audible so those who want more will be able to continue the quest. The ATC SCM20ASL is a speaker for all but the most incurable of tweakers."

Wait times still pretty long at the ATC factory, my dealer has been waiting months for his demo pair…..

Patience is a virtue I guess!

What’s the wait time at the moment? I think it was 16 weeks when I ordered my 50s in October 22. I remember that feeling like forever away at the time.

I have been pondering getting the SCM20s and subs to replace my 40s. As much as I would like 50s I don’t think I have the space for them, but the 20s and a pair of subs might well be the answer.

There is Bass adjustment + and - on the stand mount 20s, which should be very helpful in most rooms.
