Hubris…?
A loaded word, in the way ‘pride’ isn’t.
Pride because Japanese pressings are typically beautifully presented and can sound wonderful.

Beautiful sure, but the myth of their superior sound quality is about time to bury once and for all don’t you think? Quite unnecessar to spend money on expensive editions that do not have higher sound quality than others imo. But, hey, everyone does what they want of course…
Not all Japanese records sound superior, of course. BUT their vinyl and pressing is typically really high quality.
Close-to-silent vinyl and a near fault-free pressing process that some plants find hard to emulate.
The state of modern Japanese pressings I don’t know, but for records from the 70’s and 80’s they can be an attractive option, with a bit of homework re SQ.
Each to their own, agree, but the pride in owning Japanese records is not necessarily hubristic in my view.
Wasn’t referring to your ownership with my post. You can be as proud as you want, of course
I didn’t take it that you were.
Dunno about proud as a descriptor, but the JP’s I have are indeed rather nice.
More hubris. New Order 7/12 – Low-life on Factory-Nippon Columbia/Denon. The tracing paper obi is kinda cool.
Lush!
Is it the one that was just released?
It is pressed at Optimal. IMO the SQ of Random Access Memory is far better but the packaging is just fabuluos, I like the club card
The only Bowie album that I prefer the 2016 vinyl pressing, it really is that good & that’s compared with……a lot!
Which Bowie album is the one you prefer the 2016 pressing?
Pin Ups or Aladdin Sane?
