Nettie was diagnosed with liver cancer more than a year ago and she’s been on oral chemo ever since. She’s outlived several prognoses, and she celebrated her 12th birthday in July.

Remarkably, after a year of chemo (and despite the photo), she’s as active as she ever was (and as ravenous at mealtime). We see the oncologist next week, and I hope he will have to adjust his prognosis once more. Whatever the case, I feel so lucky to have had this time with her.

And thank God for pet insurance.

Thought this was going to be another in loving memory posts. So glad it wasn’t! I hope she keeps fighting for a long time to come. Make the most of her.

Someone seems rather pleased with themselves! He looks stunning Pete and I know he’s fallen on his paws with you and Mrs Pete. I think you may have found your muse when you can get back in the studio (and if he can sit still for long enough).

Thanks Iain he’s a good dog, but you’re right getting him to sit still for a time is a problem. He’s extremely active for an 8 year old dog, lucky Mrs Pete is enjoying the nudge to get out for a walk.

I think if his owners were allergic to him, he may not have the walks he would have liked.

Bestest wishes

Looks a lovely dog Pete. You’ve had enough experience to know that a bit of basic training, lead, sitting, coming to you when called will pay dividends. Just one thing that can help calm him perhaps is when feeding him make him sit for a second or two before putting his food down, and then make him sit for a second or two before he is allowed to eat it. (Old dog trainer here).

Or real contact, he’s very affectionate.

Mrs Pete feeds him, he’s been on a strict diet and only gets one meal a day in the morning. Seems like he’s always hungry. He only weighs 14kgs that’s working dog weight.

Edit; checked with the boss and apparently she makes him sit and she counts to 5 before letting him eat.

Meet Tiggy. On the day Louby left us, my partner D was fostering this little one. D had to go away for half term with one of her daughters, so Tiggy is spendingh this week with me. She started out very nervy but every day she gets more confident and today that reached the heady heights of her chewing and destroying one of my slippers…

More assistance in the garden from Bindy, the old bin-dog. I think I’ll leave the weeding of that hole until later.
