The knowing what happened and not telling could be an unkind act in itself, the truth would bring upset for sure, but also a closure.
However, in this case the window of opportunity has more or less passed, gaining a positive ID would be very difficult to attain certainty this is her cat, and still no way of communication. This person is not going to know due to these circumstances.
More something to eat in the middle of the table. He stopped drinking beer some time ago.
I’ve now set the beer aside and got a glass of wine (a generous pour, I should add), and a different cat is staring at me.

My daughter’s lovely puppy Alfie, who has featured here before, has not yet fully understood what is and what isn’t acceptable dinner table behaviour!
I think they are totally sure what is acceptable to them. Humans just need to get up to speed with modern table manners.
Those water dragons are wonderful creatures, saw a huge one a few days ago. They look so prehistoric.

The PPs have or are about to turn 3 very soon. A pic for each year of their life so far.
The last pic is the day the feral kittens arrived here, too scared to come out of the basket. Now I have both of them bouncing around on the bed, making sure I wake up in time for their breakfast.
The middle pic is one of them using the system for their ornithology homework; apparently, they had to spot 6 different species of birds between them.
And the top pic is them watching out the window, waiting for birthday presents to be delivered.
