Daddy is scary!
The PPs old and unwanted basket is now being enjoyed by my brother’s new kitten. Joey is a Bengal Siamese cross. He has settled in well and has been accepted by my brother’s other cat, who had been grieving the loss of his sister a month ago. When Joey isn’t sleeping, he follows the other cat around like a shadow, likely learning how best to manipulate all the humans in the household, according to my brother.
Smilla 12 years old a few weeks ago. Still very much active and still working guidedog, though not for much longer, but retirement may end up being just as good a doglife.

Smilla! Very nice name! And she looks like my old white shepherd Suny…….
Great photo, I think she’s settled in nicely.
Missing pic?
The dog ate my homework?
“Zhukov, bring your ball”
“Zhukov, bring your ball”
“Just stop whining and bring me your ball”
Ah….
Willy.
Happy birthday Bollino!

While Lucky stays quiet and watches me work, Louis does everything in his power to distract me from my tasks.
Our Bobby, a 12 year old Border Terrier hadn’t been the best for a while. This was especially noticeable when I came home from France at the end of January, I was shocked how much he had deteriorated in 2 weeks!
So it was off to the vets and a diagnosis of Diabetes, plus another as yet undiagnosed complaint. Though this could be a thyroid issue.
For the time being, its weekly visits to the vets for blood checks and to monitor his blood sugar levels, which were dangerously high. Insulin injections twice a day, 14 units which is very close to the maximum for a wee dog like Bobby. He doesn’t like them by the way.
As we know insulin injections have to coincide with food, easy in theory! Maybe it’s due to his current condition, we’re not sure, but he has got ridiculously fussy with food. Trying to get him to eat when he is due his insulin has became a vaxing problem and we are running out of ideas! Mrs M and I spend most of the day trying to think of what and how to feed him next.
He has always had a good varied diet, a lot of home made food, supplemented with a high quality dried food. Now… well he hasn’t touched any dried food in 2 days, its a lottery if he eats what we make, and I mean we are talking about, for example, quality sausages, chicken, rib eye steak, yes you read that right!!! We even try hand feeding him, well nope, if he doesn’t want it he just spits it out!
So, guys this is a bit of a cry for help, or certainly at least, any advice that may help! Mrs M and I are exasperated with it all.. ![]()
