That will make a sonic difference !
Evidently that’s a great cartridge the AT 760 SE trig B
Just wondering if anyone had tried it straight into the Nait 50 phono stage ?
I would sssume that phono stage is similar quality to the SN3 one ??
@Bevo
Hi
I’ve no doubt it would be as great I’ve read many posts about its phono stage being very good indeed.
I’ve certainly no problems or noise on mine through the SN3
It’s a brill cart and the three point mount for the Ekos was a complete deal maker.
My Audio Technica AT33sa. Bought when Covid was in full swing when my LP12 was updated, replacing the in situ Ortofon Rondo Bronze. If Ortofon still made the Rondo Bronze in 2020, I would have got another.
The AT is amply good enough for me: it has a good output voltage, and has worked well with my previous NAP135’S and Usher CP6371 speakers, and now with my ATC’S. I think this is my 4th or 5th Audio Technica, going back to OC7 days in the 1980s.
Perhaps not the best looking cart in the world…
But the Linn Kandid sounds mighty fine. Purchased with just 50 hours on it for £1400. Previous owner bought an Ekstatik to replace it.
It sounds perfect and have been using it since last May.
When it comes to replace it I will find it hard to come by such a deal again. Buying used and frm ebay presents higher risks. I was very lucky with the deal.
Great photo
I would be interested to hear more about your local HiFi group!
I have no idea what it sounds like but I am utterly taken by the look of this cartridge with its porcelain body. It is manufactured by Jasmine Audio Company in China and is called the “Dragon”. I know its made in China but the Chinese are getting their act together with HiFi just look at Jolida amps, the Opera turntables and Sky Analogue cartridges
According to the manufacturer website the specs are
Cantilever: Solid Boron
Stylus: Micro-ridge, natural diamond
Output: 0.28mV
Tracking Force: 1.7 - 2.5 g
Recommended loading: >60 ohm
Compliance: 16um/mN
Anyone out there with knowledge of this cartridge? It would be interesting to hear from you.
I have seen that Iota-Audio Design are handling them in the UK
It’s basically Finnish HiFi enthusiasts registered association. We have yearly member subscriptions which covers part what the society is doing. Many different “free” items for members to try like turntable, cartridge, UMIK-1, power cables, acoustic panels etc.
Really nice group, without it I probably wouldn’t be where I am now with this hobby.
We seem to have few members writing to here as well.
Thanks that is really interesting. I am not aware of anything like that in the UK
This is the new Ortofon MC 90X, a reprise of the legendary (in some quarters) MC A90 of 17 years ago. Absolute killer.
Is there any difference between this re-issue and the original? I have a MC90 from the original 400 limited run. I had it re-tipped 18 months ago (it’s using a shibata now I think versus the Replicant) and it sounds great although it’s currently in storage as a Shelter Harmony is my daily driver.
I will be in Denmark next month on holidays. Would be tempting…
Well, I still have my original A90; after the first year or so, I carelessly broke the stylus, and had it repaired by Ortofon. But eventually, after quite a few years, it was showing its age, and I moved on to other cartridges. After reading the Fremer preview on Tracking Angle of the 90X, I took it out of storage and hey, this is still a special sound, so I ordered the 90X. I would say that, after only 15 hours or so, the 90X has the same sound profile, but is even better in all areas over the A90 when it was new. Fremer will be publishing a review soon, he says.
One more Hana ML. Happy with this one. Might try a Dynavector XX2a next, and keep the Hana. I have no back up pick up at the moment.
Looks like I am going to plump for trading in my broken Benz for a new Phasemation.
Has anyone compared the PP-200 vs the 300? Or indeed any other?
What changed from the A90 sonically?
Any resemblance to the original?
