A Hana ML to replace my aged Koetsu Rosewood

Just gone back to the Stereophile review from 2007 and yes, it is described as a ‘white polymer base assembly’, other sources describe it as “high-loss polymer”.
I stand corrected

But what’s different to the other Lyra designs and other cartridge designs, is that it is not metal

Nice to see a Zeta arm once again.

I’ve been fortunate that it hasn’t been an example that has suffered from sticky bearings. I bought it back in the early 1980s and apart from losing the shiny finish on the finger lift, it has performed faultlessly to date.

Very happy with my OC9 so don’t get cartridge envy when visiting this thread (until someone like @b-lilja comes in with the ART9)!

How does it compare with your Kandid?

Hi Debs
In all honesty I’m enjoying it more.
My reason for change.
I can and make it future friendly for the family.

Stylus swaps etc no dealer strip downs.
I know technically it’s a downgrade but peace of mind is a huge upgrade.
It’s all swings and roundabouts.

It’s taken us back to that place we had relaxing pleasure without the long term worry.

The cartridge is no slouch it’s the best magnet that AT make and then the three point mount “ cherry on top “
The MM input on the amp is superb “ quieter that Urika “ and I’m listening at a slightly lower level on vinyl than before.
Cart to amp nothing in between and no sharing compromise in the Radikal it’s doing what it was meant to do on its own.
Let’s be honest getting older with cloth ears the diminishing returns are a false economy. :+1:

Hi Skep, I am thinking of upgrading to the same cart in the near future. Just out of interest do you have to buy the AT 760 complete with its own body then swop that out for the trigb or I assume you can just buy the replacement stylus and trigb separately making the overall cost less.
I will speak to Peter @ Cymbiosis nearer the time but just wondered how the pricing works.

Hi
Yes I got it through Peter.
What he does is supplies a brand new sealed AT cart to the people and they then change out the body to install the three point mount then it is returned to Peter to fit.
The three point mount on the top end carts are fitted by them but the two point mount conversions for the plastic bodies can be kit.
They do a lovely job and I couldn’t be happier.
It’s very professionally done.
It’s the new cart price plus the conversion price then any future stylus is standard replaceable. :+1:

Sorry man…

It is a wonderful cartridge, pretty guileless.

Nice shot BTW…the light and great depth of field/bokeh for the RB3000…

Surprised not to have seen one of these yet…

I love it…excellent package with the P6…a classic combo.

This is part of my office system.

Yes love mine, just wished it didn’t sit so low (as do the ND series).

This thread reminds me so much to finally buy the Hana umami red and install it on the aro (which is still not mounted)

:heart_eyes::heart_eyes: my troika heart is beating - still so good?

I never owned a Troika but found my Linn Karma to be a wonderful music maker back in the day.

The Umami Red hasn’t been about fireworks, bombast or relentless resolution.
When I first heard it, my initial reaction was one of, “Oh, that just sounds so naturally RIGHT”. Nothing stood out of the mix, nothing was over-emphasised, nothing was hidden by poor resolution. All the musical elements just fell into place with a natural sense of harmony. Utterly lovely.

There are no doubt even better cartridges out there for a higher price but I simply don’t feel the need. This will do. I’ve found my happy, contented level in terms of cartridges.

It would still be interesting to hear a Troika strutting its stuff though one day!

Best regards, BF

Never heared a troika since 80s.
Simply referring to optical analogy.
That’s exactly what I am looking for - nothing pronounced - simply right! Thanks
