Show us your phono cartridge

That is not a real problem to be honest. They don’t really just fail like that unless there was some massive movement with the platter on, and I could see maybe a spring cutting into bushings (there would be other signs of damage).

In any case, all of the suspension parts amount to three springs and a couple of bushings each, so maybe $10 in parts and a setup required. Not really a thing to be scrapped over that, but it sounds like you didn’t have anyone to do that for you.

(Appreciate this is an old post, but that could seem scary to someone that doesn’t know how these work)

Your Javelin is a little different to mine?

That looks like the same Elevator they sold for the Aro, was it an early version?

It behaved exactly as I stated it did. You’re welcome to be in denial about it, but you weren’t there and didn’t see what happened to the table. In any case, I don’t miss having it. I’m much happier with what I have now, which is also more suitable for me.

It was in the first half a dozen made by Roger (who helped fit it) & as far as I know there were no revisions with the 30 or so made?
The photos posted by @rkay5 looks like one made as an after fit for the aro. Its also got an aro finger cue if I’m not wrong.

I looked at getting the TP Javelin to replace my Akito arm.

Had a demo at Cymbiosis comparing the Akito / Javelin / Ekos SE.

Ended up with the Ekos SE.

DG…

My Javelin was modified because the cueing tower was not functioning as it should. I spoke with Peter Swain of Cymbiosis, and he advised modifying the mounting base of the Javelin and using the cueing lifter made for the ARO. So that what I did. I’m very happy with it. The cueing set up works so much better than what was stock.

Ahh I see. My cueing arm took an age to drop back down so roger sent me a new one that, whilst still slow was a lot better. Its improved more since although I never use it (just my wife) preferring my finger!
:+1:

I think Peter uses a modified Javelin (bits of aro).

Ooerrrrrr

…well, I would not trust my finger on an arm with an expensive cartridge mounted…
or even with a cheap cartridge, and damage to the record grooves is possible…

Always seemed to me the finger lift on an arm was asking for trouble.

Finally after all these years, a true mono cartridge for me. “Mono feels rooted, like an old tree, while stereo specializes in phantoms wearing bellbottoms.”

Looks lovely, but is that a bit of fluff it’s dragging? :joy::joy::wink:

Hana again… I need to get my ass of my sofa and bring my TT to phonosophie to install aro and umami red.
This is accompanied with new plugs on naca 5 (long overdue) and this is accompanied with a lot of cable fiddle … but… need to do it!
