I think he thinks that for the money – and we’re not going for a top top top spec deck (leaving some room to ‘upgrade’ if I ever want) – the OA was the right choice based on its performance.

I too would be interested to know if any servicing is eventually required on an Aro. I had the opportunity to recently speak with a former “Naim-not Naim” individual and specifically asked about the internal wire and grounding paint. I was told that they should last forever.

Thinking about possible futures with my fluted Afro plinth, circa 1983, (boxed up in the loft)…has anyone had their fluted plinth updated with corner braces or whatever?

I have the modern non-fluted, which I changed to last year, but the temptation is always there to restore and reinstate my old beauty…

Here a bit more of my fully tangerined fluted stiletto plinth with a Tigerpaw Javelin on an Aro base and Aro keel, setup done by Peter Swain.

The Javelin arm looks the business, Charlie. Is that an Audiotech wall shelf
Certainly looks like one …

It’s a Vulkan, tiger paws version of the original Audiotech shelf which both are now unfortunately not available any more …

Hi Guys, you will be pleased to hear that the “Aro guy” still very much works at HQ!
As for servicing, I’m not sure on that one - parts are like hen’s teeth now.
I can make some inquiries if required.

Regards
Neil.

Peter also was pretty pessimistic about a cueing solution for Aro at this time. I’m guessing it’s hard to find parts, as I definitely would require one.

Bart,

ARO does not have a cueing mechanism.

Tiger Paw has a ARO-matic replacement which works pretty good. ( but no it is not as elegant as naked ARO )

Out of curiosity what’s a USD MSRP of AO7?

You and I have matching plinths! Pretty similar spec too. Radikal, Kahn, Ekos ll, Koetsu Black. Oh, and I have Karousel installed. Deck has a Kore for now, but I have a Keel coming from Merry 'Ol, hoping to see it delivered soon.

Does look similar!

I’m not exactly sure but it looks like in the UK it’s £1,832.50 Exc. VAT, which today would be $2265.00. I’ll be paying UK price, exc. vat. (buying from a UK dealer, not a US dealer).

Whatever you do, resist any and all temptation to get an Aro-matic. IIRC, Naim only came up with it after coming under great pressure from dealers who didn’t like hand cueing.

It’s not very good.

ah thanks. I have not heard any AO arms but I could see Peter opting for it because Akito is over 2k now! :x

Surely part of Peter’s calculus - thanks! He presented it as pretty black and white; if I really want an Aro I’d have to commit to hand-cueing only. (Not the only reason he suggested the AO PU7 for me / my use case.)

And he’s installed many of them and thus heard them many many many times. I think it lies between Akito and Ekos SE, re performance.
