I don’t think the Roksan arm had been released when I moved to the SME. The Rega, SME and I remember the Alphason tended to be the arms on a Xerxes back then. Aros and Ittoks were also unfashionable from memory. ‘‘Twas a long time ago!
Thanks for that. As it happens, I have a Wenge plinth (from Solid Sounds), which is about to replace the standard black plinth on my LP12. Standard LP12 size, though!
That sounds promising.
Please, post a picture, once the new Plinth is in situ.

I went from an RB300/K9 on my early Xerxes to an Artemiz/Shiraz, a really big step up in performance to my ears. (Back in the day the Artemiz and Shiraz were £300 each, ah those were the days.) I’ve still got that original Artemiz on my TMS, it did have quite a bit of upgrade work done on it by Touraj about 12 years ago, mainly rewiring I think from memory.
So the P3 has been replaced by a P8 Fono MC/Neo. I had to construct a wall mount for the bracket due to my rear wall not being very straight. Painted black using blackboard paint and separate shelves for the boxes I think it looks rather cool. Even my missus likes it now.

The RP3 is a good turntable and a bit of a bargain at the price I think but the RP8 is another level in my view a cracking turntable.
I’ve discussed with Touraj - always great to talk with him fascinating guy - rewiring my Artemiz but I think I’ll go big and get a Vertere SG.
Hey after being in this obsession for over 45 years I have finally and willing been initiated into the “Cult of Naim”. I could not be happier. Its time to Enjoy the Music.
Turntable: VPI Scout 1.1
Cartridge: Hana ML
Phono Stage: PS Audio Stellar Phono Preamplifier
That’s a nice looking turntable!
A question if I may about your Isoacoustic Delos?
I am thinking about trying one under the Vertere MG-1 here:
Overall, we are delighted with the American black walnut Simrak stands.
Even so, the MG-1 is more susceptible to low frequency vibration than in the old set-up with the wall shelf, so basslines start to blur when I turn the wick up.
Was there a particular logic for choosing the Delos over individual Orea isolation feet and were there any particular dealer recommendations on thick versus thin block?
I may just have to use trial & error but any thoughts from someone who has been there first would be much appreciated.
Best regards, BF
I tried both Orea feet and the Delos. The Delos sounds better in my setup. Whether you chose the thin or thick version of the Delos depends on the weight you want to put on it. The isoAcoustics website has those specs. My TT with everything is 40+ lbs, so I got the 3" (thicker) version. They also now have a walnut version, which is slightly softer than the maple version I have.
They also now have another platform series called “ZaZen.” That might be something to consider too. The website has details.
Thank you, much appreciated. The MG-1 with tonearm weighs about 15kg, so I am looking at the 3" thick walnut 18" by 15" one.

That sounds like a great choice, and should look awesome with your rack.
Hi @JonathanG great story and thanks for sharing it.
I came by my LP12 in somewhat similar manner over 30 years ago and though I have changed a few bits, the deck is never leaving! As you say, wonderful engineering, great music, loving memories and sentimental value, utterly priceless!
Hi Lindsay,
I popped over to see Touraj on Friday. Here’s the latest system picture. Something’s different…
Arghhh?!
It’s much quieter, at the moment. Streaming still works beautifully though.
Oh, and the smoked glass arrived this week from Simon Price for the amplifier stack and the turntable shelf.
Best regards, BF
