Show us your turntable

Very kind gthack, thank you. Funnily enough, there was a DG-1 playing as well this morning and it sounded mighty fine. It’s a very, very good turntable for anyone who is vaguely sane/normal. I don’t count myself in that category anymore, hence the LP12s then the Xerxes and now the MG-1.

Enjoy your Systemdek. Derek & Ramsay Dunlop up in Troon are super. Their sister company, ART, made our speakers and they are keepers too!

That MG1 looks lovely. If I were getting an MG1 I’d probably get the champagne finish, which to me looks particularly good.

Thank you @anon4489532. I know what you mean about the champagne finish.

There was a pearlescent white RG-1 at Vertere yesterday. It certainly made a visual statement!
My own preference would be for the black one which wasn’t available when we bought ours.

The most important aspect for us is that we keep wanting to buy & listen to more music on vinyl, in the same way that the P10 does for you.

Being plastic, I wonder if it’s prone to scratches from dusting? That may be more of an issue with the black version I suspect. At least with the Rega there is hardly anything to dust!

Fair point, well made

I’m not quite sure what “dusting” means? …

We have had our turntable for over 6 years now and I can’t see any scratches in the perspex. The black coating on the platter has light scratching on it from all the LPs that have been placed on & taken off it over the years but the new Techno Mat addresses this from now on.

When it comes to dusting, I do it deliberately infrequently and then only very carefully with a fine microfibre cloth. The €70 cover has been really effective in keeping dust off the turntable itself.

A very fine rendition of Come rain or come shine there.

I think HH meant the dusting

Lovely BF. I did a comp of MG-1 vs Radikal LP12 last year out of curiosity. I thought it was swings and roundabouts on presentation, but the MG-1 gave nothing much away and won out in some important ways. Both were wonderfully involving and AFAIC, that’s all that really matters in a turntable.
I’d be really intrigued to hear an RG-1 to see if it’s really significantly better, but I know that I could happily live with an MG-1 and I’m guessing your rig sounds amazing, all the more so after a personal set up by Touraj…

And I can say I’ve heard a SG and if that is anything to go by a RG wouldn’t disappoint!

I have been fortunate enough to have heard all Vertere decks and sorry, there is a significant step up in sound quality through the range and the RG is simply the best TT I have heard,

… and the SG-1 is now substantially better (and more expensive!), now that it comes with the Tempo motor drive.

I’ll try to limp on with the Tempo’ed MG-1, very happily indeed.

Sorry to announce you, for your bank account, but Vertere is launching his new motor drive, which fits between the tempo and the reference.

You can add the Vertere isolation stand too.

Not posted here yet. I have it since July and I am delighted. It works so well with the Lyra Kleos and my tubes phono.

So glad you are enjoying it.

Hi frenchrooster, did you install a spacer between the arm and the plinth when you installed your Lyra?

Yes. 3mn. Tad spacer, you don’t need to remove the arm.

Very nice @frenchrooster - although I would have been nervous tightening the arm back up after fitting the spacer over the ceramic brace!
