Show us your turntable

You did put a lot of thought into it. I remember following it with great interest

Sometimes thought is what matters , I remember on system where a basic Technics turntable (with phono stage) had been added to a Naim Muso . The connection made with a cable from RCA to MiniJack .

Very clever , streaming plus turntable with only two boxes and for the price of a high end Linn MC cartridge

Last pic of Xerxes with RB250. I bought a Origin Live Silver mk2 to replace it and will receive it next week.

Is that a picture of you, taken by your husband who tolerates your hobby?!

Have to say that Jazz is just sublime on the Technics.

The previous owner had brutally ripped out the tonearm wiring. Now it has new silver wire (patiently inserted into the barrel) and a place in my house.

Hi Enrico, lovely simple system .

The stand is rather nice , a change from all the dark metal or wood stands

I had a lot of fun rejuvenation this old Thorens TD-150 I’ve done a couple of them in the past but this was my favourite partly due to the transformation from the absolute filthy condition it was in when it arrived.

I thought these pictures were lost but found them today

Great job :+1:.
These TD150s are excellent bases to experiment with. I have a mk1 that is undergoing a suspension modification with an elastomer that will replace the springs. What work has yours undergone? Do you have any more photos to show us.. please?
Congratulations.

Thanks I think the TD150 is a neat little project that many could easily complete.

On the one pictured first had a thorough clean it was owned by a heavy smoker and even the tonearm was yellow from nicotine stains luckily the tonearm and side platter polished up nicely.

1 new power supply (this is really inexpensive just a couple of capacitors and a resistor or two)

2 New mains lead and RCA cables

3 New Cardas Litz tonearm cable and tags

4 New bamboo plinth made from a IKEA chopping board (the plinths are quiet basic and the bamboo is easy to work with using hand tools)

5 New face plate (thin carbon fibre sheet)

6 Some strategically placed dampening material following some of the Chadwick mods clean and re oil bearing new belt lube motor etc

New Audio Technica VN95 MM cartridge

It was a fun and relatively inexpensive project that sounded a lot better than many would think.

Thanks for the detailed description of the work done. The bamboo plinth is a great idea, I will use it.

For the Bamboo plinth I took my inspiration from the £2250 Bamboo Booplinth for the Linn LP12.

The IKEA APTITLIG bamboo chopping board I used cost all of £6 (£8 now) and a few hours of spare time with a handsaw and smoothing plane

I looked at the IKEA website, there are many sizes at cheap prices

Don’t wait, just do it and show us the results!

I’m in the same boat, I have a td166 and want a new plinth since I don’t like the old plinths.

They are great turntables.

The Pro-ject Carbon has slowed down the modifications on the Thorens. I will be happy to show the results of the modifications to you naim community.
the old plinths from the 70’s were terrible😄
