Hi dstack, Your system looks great. How are you finding the Umami Blue? I have an aging ML, which is still work fabulously, but I am thinking one of the Umami’s as a replacement for when it finally expires.

I have gone back to active SL2’s so to accommodate the extra boxes I decided to go with a wall shelf. I sourced this Target TTW1 in mint condition. Replaced the chipboard with FRAIM glass and am enjoying a sound at least as good as it was on the top of the FRAIM.

I’m pretty sure you saw this at the time (and may have the same?) vis a cloche to cover the kit and parts of the shelf. Great value IMHO at ~£85 (IIRC).

No I don’t recall it HL. If you would be kind enough to post the link I will buy one :+1:

As I can’t post a link in this room, look up ‘Turntable covers Tielo’ and you should find very quickly. You give them the measurements, as these are (obviously) custom builds.

Mine has a large cut-out on the rear for cabling. I’ve found the acrylic to be much harder than Linn’s standard LP12 cover i.e. much easier to dust and scratch resistant (famous last words!).

A new guest joins my 2 turntables.. This is Aiwa AP 2300 direct drive. Not as rare and prestigious as AP 2500 but I find it surprisingly good for the current price and convenient for the automations.

I had the ML cartridge, really enjoyed it; this last upgrade push replaced it with the Umami Blue and swapped the Rega Aria phono preamp for the Aura, I’ve been quite pleased with the upgrade!

Not replacements for my LP12! But I hope some knowledgeable forum members can tell me something about the turntables or components?

This pair of turntables and six others were providing the soundscape for US conceptual artist Ann Hamilton’s major installation “We will Sing” in Salts Mill, Saltaire as part of Bradford 2025 City of Culture. The turntables are playing “song for the future” a composition by Hamilton and vocalist Emily Eagan of recordings made by local communities and school choirs.
In another of the roof spaces the original mill horn speakers rotate while playing a recording by Eagan of a 13th century English folk song. While the third space contains felt mounted images and clothing on wool in several forms, inspired by the textile processes which used to fill the mill. I found it a very thought provoking and uplifting installation which other forum members might enjoy.

Photos of the speakers and images, for anyone interested.

I must admit that I find difficult to understand at times.

I like the paintings.

I empathise, some conceptual art is impenetrable!
For this exhibition I avoided reading any explanatory notes or reviews before my visit. I was able to consider my own thoughts and responses to the work before reading the material or watching the supporting video on the ideas and processes of its creation.

:+1:They are apparently based on “ feve”, small ceramic figures which were baked into cakes , as lucky charms!

Hi All Linn Experts. I am thinking of switching from a Vertere DG1 to a Linn Akurate. I found a used one for 4000€ with one year dealer’s guarantee with the Akito tonearm. Do you think this is o.k.? I would put my Vertere Mystic MC on it. Is there something specific i should pay attention to? I have no opportunity to listen to it, unfortunately, so it would be blind purchase.

Depends where you are but it seems expensive depending on the spec PS etc.
The Akito isn’t really a brill arm for MC.
It hasn’t come with that arm for quite some time so suspect old stock or a build.
There was a project then a Jelco arm after that.

You’re not really going to know unless you can hear the Linn which you can’t. I really wouldn’t do this blind.

I am in Germany and the dealer is very far away. The website does not say how old the player is. Very confusing market when you look for used Linn LP12s :grimacing:. So, i thought that getting one with a one year guarantee would be good. In any case, probably somewhat stupid to do this blindly - but I am tempted to do something stupid

I want a new player because i find the Vertere DG1 too fiddly and there is no reasonable upgrade path. The next upgrade would be a 10K leap to a MG1.

yeah, you are right .. only fools rush in

And you are going to replace it with the fiddliest of all turntables?
