Not any more. Acoustic Signature in Germany were building them, not sure if they still do.

Just read the review. Palmer design but build by acoustic signature as you said. The name is still Palmer 2.5i.

I don’t see any mention of them on the Acoustic Signature website.

Its an interesting review and while quoting Fidelis (US) seems to indicate they are still available in the UK.
A quick google and I find nothing here.
It’s a lovely TT and if I had ‘loadsamoney’ it would certainly be on my list.

Nice loft discovery! Does it still work?

Just conected it to my TEAC integrated/beyer headphones.

It works fine, speed stable but hard to tell how it sounds, it’s buzzing loudly.
I need to retreave a wire from the shed to connect the grounds. :hear_no_evil:

We don’t often see Hitachi on these pages, I must admit always wanting to see more Luxman and Pioneer , simply because they stayed with HiFi when firms like Hitachi were making vacuum cleaners etc

Mind you, they did make really good vacuum cleaners

It does look like it comes from a Kubrick film

Yes a review just 2 days ago in Part Time Audiophile.

Exactly !

I picked up my RP 10 /Apheta 2 yesterday, and just got it up and running. Maybe you guys can help me with a setting on my Phonostage. I am using a Musical fidelity Nuvista Vinyl, and it has adjustable settings for the MC resistive loading.
They are 10,25,50,100,400,800,1k2,4.7k
I have not owned a TT since the late eighties, it sounds lovely. Currently I have it set at 400, but really have no clue what I am supposed to set this at?
I also have new speakers, Peak Consult Incognito’s, here are a few photos.

Very nice set up No Quarter! Congrats !
I would test by ear, it’s the most accurate, and try to compare between these 3 : 50, 100 and 400.
How does it compare vs the digital rig you have?

I agree here. IIRC, Rega recommend 100 ohms on the Apheta 2, but best to try by ear.

Thanks FR.
Ok I have only played 2 complete albums so far, currently listening to Dire Straits & Mark Knopfler. This one sounds better than the first two, T-Rex and Lynyrd Skynyrd, but I was using the 400 setting on the last one. Currently using 100 as Richard suggested, but everything is brand new, so surely it needs to run in a little? So far I think my Chord gear has the edge, but I may have settings completely wrong for all I know. I got the arm floating, or balanced, then set the tracking and bias adjustment to around 1.75…does that sound right? I plan on calling the dealer I purchased it at today to get his recommendation on the settings. To me, the TT setup does not have the 3D soundstage that my Chord gear has, but maybe I just need to get used to the sound of the TT, I have not owned one in over 30 years. Another question is who knows how good the recording is on these few albums I have so far?, but they are all in new condition. Also, I seem to get more bass from the Chord gear, the TT sounds a little thinner in comparison, but by no means does it sound bad.

Another question FR or Richard, how do I lift the outer skeleton off without damaging anything? I know to take the dust cover and plinth off, but do I just lift straight up, is there a special technique here?
I have not tried yet…
Should I put the stylus cover back on after I am done using the TT, or am I ok to leave it off?
I have no pets or kids.

Ask your dealer!

I will, but it is 9 AM here in Canada, he does not open until 11.

The middle bit should just lift out. It has little feet that sit inside the big feet on the outer plinth. Take the platter off first.
