I prefer the Audio Note. Having said that I use it mostly in an all Audio Note system. The Linn is in an all Naim system which seems to work better

Aro on Keel SE? I really hope that turns out to be viable. I think you might just be able to sell a few of those Peter!

Hope you’re enjoying the heat and resting well in France.

Hi! I bet that this older plinth is rosewood and not rosenut (red lacquer on walnut). If I am not mistaken, the “rosenut” finish was created to replace true rosewood that was rapidly increasing in price and scarcity. One way or the other, she’s a beauty.

That machining within the arm collar was present with the original keel from 2007 BTW

I’ve just noticed on this comparison picture.
Nobody told me.

The 3 point mounting has been present for as long as I can remember as it is a really good engineering solution to provide a uniform and hence reproducible attachment of the arm to the collar! Akitos, Ittoks all have it.
Evidently, nobody mentioned it to you back in the 1980s :man_shrugging:t2:. So, it has been present on all the arms pretty much all the way through history! As I said unless you had the arm detached from the collar, it’s not something you would notice or be aware of!

A turntable that makes me dream.

And as a purely cosmetic benefit is that you can retain the silver Ekos II arm collar which looks way better than the black Keel one and tells those in the know right from the get go that you own a Keel SE

Almost forty years since I bought my first one, this is my latest system addition; Linn Sondek LP12 with Simon Price Reference plinth, Karousel, Kore, Valhalla Zeus and Ekos 2 fitted with an Audio Technica AT-VM760xSL cartridge. Built by Paul at Moorgate Acoustics in Sheffield - up and running, sounding incredible!

I just added that cartridge and I am really happy/impressed with it! Saving up for Karousel/Kore/Lingo 4

Very nice I saw the pictures Moorgate showed on their Facebook book page?

I think the quilted maple looks absolutely stunning, hope you get a lot of enjoyment from it.

Thanks for the very kind words @Oxfordian @JamieMcC @Stu63 I’m definitely enjoying what I’m hearing so far, lots more records to be played!

Paul did mention that he’d posted some pictures on Facebook, I don’t do FB personally but got the impression that the feedback was very positive. I just knew I had to have this plinth as soon as I saw it, it’s about as far from traditional as it gets but still looks manages to look like an LP12.
