Had the LP12s, had the Xerxes and had the P9/P10. All have their virtues and vices but the best of the lot had been the Pioneer PL-71. Currently running this with a bog-standard Denon 103 and it’s very nice indeed. Just makes very engaging music.

The amp is a Pioneer A-9 with the matching F-7 tuner. I had wanted one of these amps for longer than I’m prepared to admit to. It’s competent with no real faults but it’s only there as a stopgap.

The tt in the background is another 71. It’s got a bit of a story but it’s not appropriate for this forum.

Arrrrgh ! Apologies for the “sort of double posting”. I received an error message after the first post so had another go and subsequently received a second error message. Not sure why the photo is at 90 degrees as it was upright on my iphone !

A lot of good TT and nice pictures here. Not sure it is the right thread to ask but will.

What TT priced GBP 2000 (new, without cartridge) will be good enough for 252/SC/250 amplifier, so it will not be a bottleneck? Or the budget is too small? As for manufacturers there is no preferences. Will be good if TT not huge in size and not big headache in setting and maintenance. Thoughts about Rega, VPI, but any suggestion is welcome.

A new Rega Planar 8 with Ania MC Cartridge is £2119, £1699 without a factory fitted cartridge.

That comes with the Rega Neo PSU as well for that price.

You’ll need to add a Phono preamp as well of course.

Thank you, so P8 is up to 252/250 ?

What a beauty!
I dread to think how much it weighs, must have big screws in the wall to keep it there!

About 35KG - The wall shelf (put up with my fair hands) does the job magnificently

The house however is slowly tipping over. :grinning:

For hardly no headache in maintenance and setting up I would go with a Technics SL-1200GR

Wow - that looks like an impressive piece of engineering! Would love to hear one of these at some point.

Not the best pic, but added an extra of the music room for context:
• Well-Tempered Amadeus GTA with Audio Technica ART-9 (Transfiguration Phoenix backup)
• Tavish Design Adagio MM/MC Tubed Phono
• Built a floating shelf from a Butcher Block Acoustics maple block

Well Tempered Simplex but not for the faint hearted, no cueing lever and I’m not even sure there’s a finger lift though it may be an option.

Bang on two grand I think.

The Simplex is a great table! Actually pretty easy to set up. It does come with an optional finger lift.

Beautiful vinyl rig, I’m gonna have to invest in that side of my system some day … so I’ve got that to look forward to.
Is the Naim gear in a different room?

Don_Camillo, SL-1200 is a legend one, I just a bit more after belt classical.

Yeti, thank you, somehow never seen this model before, will google on it.

I used a P3 for a year while I contemplated vinyl life after my Xerxes failed. This was fine if unspectacular with my 252/300. The higher range Regas would be good although I would always recommend having a listen first. I ended up with a high spec Linn though.
