Lockdown - the opportunity to ‘spring clean’ :slightly_smiling_face:

You say that, however I gave mine a clean after taking those pics! Bit mucky…

Hi Dan I have just purchased a Rega Planar 6 fitted with a Audio-Technica Stylus VM540ML. And I am using the built in phono stage of the Supernate 3. The Turntable is mounted on the Rega next generation wall bracket.

Finally got round to posting.

Main currently working setup as follows:

Rega - P3 24
Rega - TT PSU
Goldring - 2500 Cartridge
Funk Firm - Achromat
iFi - iPhono
Chord Company - Cadenza Reference RCA

Also have a Thorens TD160 with an SME arm, still functional but needs a rebuild and some TLC.

SN3 office system will get an RP6 once the Fraim level appears!

I had the vertere rg1 on trial for about a week before the S1. Very impressive spinner with incredible sense for detail and resolution. At that point superior to my tangerined lp12 (without carousel) with respect to nuances and voicing.

Lovely Charlie. Which cartridge was fitted in the tonearm of the RG-1?
I’m now at cartridge replacement time and much as I have enjoyed the Dynavector XX-2, I am starting to look at alternatives, especially as Vertere has just launched the Mystic cartridge.

If I recall correctly, Touraj is rather fond of Soundsmith cartridges.

Best regards, BF

@Charlie. Very impressive.

Unfortunately I have deleted my notes and I can’t remember the specification of the cartridge. I had the vertere rg1 on trial for about a week. It was really a “cheap” cart nothing special but even with this it was very obvious what the rg1 is capable of. Not very helpful I am afraid …
Enjoy your deck

Very bad photo… but my Gyrodec. It’s the second I’ve had, the first was a full gyro, this is the ‘SE’ version.

I fitted the SME-IV to it and later added the fluid damper (mostly because I found it cheaply).

Can’t really see it in the picture but there’s a prefix-k sat underneath the gyrodec.

I so, so, so love the look of the Gyrodec with SME IV arm. My favourite of all turntables. There is something about those rotating brass weights…

Thanks Stephen. Enjoy!

Thanks Charlie. Even if you keep the old fruitbox, it’s not exactly a hardship. I have many a fond memory of listening to music played on my old LP12s over the years.

Hi BF,

it’s clearly something EMT-based, like the Shiraz was. To me it look like to model Helmut Brinkmann used as a starting point for his EMT-ti.

I have a Michell Orbe Se with SME IV and Ortofon Windfield PWTi cartridge.
This is fed into an Avid Pulses phono stage.

My Bauer dps 3 currently idling on a record/book cabinet and waiting for its wall shelf to arrive.

Tonearm is a Graham series 2.2, cartridges are a Koetsu Urushi (pictured above and in my avatar) and a Transfiguration Temper. The cable shown is Grahams IC-30 slightly modified with ETI silver RCA plugs. The phono stage is from Bauer, too.

I bought the original dps many years ago. It has been updated with the Aluminium base in place of the original granite, a new motor and several psus (one 2, two 3s), concave record clamp and possibly some minor other things.

Currently thinking about the Bauer tonearm and a white frosted top plate. Mostly to get a fresh look, perhaps improved sound as well.

Sorry to hear about your marital status, hope you’re all right. The P8/Apheta 3 IMO is the best help you can get!

Great record!

Restoration project, my old faithful Thorens that kept me company for many years but ended up stuffed in a cupboard once I made the move to Rega spinners.

Speaking of been stuffed in a cupboard, I’m hoping to get this old timer up and running at some stage. It’s circa 1964 and used to drive Quad valve pre & power in to ESL 57’s. I still have the lot and would love to get it all restored but it’s costly
