I had the thought to set it up on my SN3, but once I had it out and dusted off I realised I had a bit of work to do to get it to the point of being able to actually play records again!
Worth a tinker I reckon…
That’s a good looking turntable …
Garrard 301 ??
Your Clearaudio, and glowing reviews from you and others, have me thinking about it! Would match the black Fraim / black anodized speakers decor! And it obviously gets glowing reviews - although usually with the lesser arm.
Bart, I thought you were getting a LP12 nicely built up. Are you thinking about a Claraudio in addition to it?
The Ovation with the black anodized finish and piano black finish on the plinth is stunning. Both the Tracer and Universal arms are available in black carbon.
Classic combination Mr.M, one of the smartest looking TTs, IMO.
I’ll repeat my earlier post. Some beautiful engineering on display here.
Not much love on here for the Michell’s TT’s??
The CD5si just squeezing in at the bottom.
I have a spare RB330 arm waiting for a turntable…
BTW…is your RB330 modified ?..New wiring etc ??
What I struggle with with some of the turntables, is how members keep those without dustcovers like the Clearaudio, but especially the more exotically shaped ones, dust free?
Mine? The only mod is the Michell counter weight. Stock cable.
Michell Orbe, DC motor with n/c power supply, Audiomods series vi arm, Lyra Delos cartridge playing through Naim Superline with HiCap DR power supply
No more lp12 on the radar?
How about an Audionote Tt3 white turntable. Would match your room.
Or Black
LP12 is what I’ve been waiting for. That Clearaudio looks nice as well, gets great reviews, and is maybe more like the Rega in terms of ‘set it and forget it?’ But once an LP12 is set up in my home, until we move house, it should not need any attention for a long time either. That Clearaudio is a 10/10 on looks for me, so is an LP12.
That Audionote is still too ‘gimmicky’ looking; I like traditional plinth looks. It’s a 5/10 on looks to me. And Rega looks are 9/10. I dont like the looks of any of the tt’s that have multiple cylindrical ‘things’ rising up from the plinth, or below the platter, etc etc etc. Just my aesthetic preferences; to each their own
I have a purpose built Clearaudio dust cover , it isn’t hinged so just comes off when I want to play a record.
I have to say (trip to the naughty boys corner coming up) that I much prefer it to the skimpy covers Rega are using .
