I’m a retired Master Mariner and was a Navigating Officer and Captain so the story depicted in Longitude, Dava Sobel’s astonishing book and the Harrison clocks is very close to my heart. In fact, the first time I saw the clocks at The Royal Observatory I cried with emotion.

I am applying to be a volunteer guide at The Royal Observatory to guide visitors around Flamsteed House in 2024 to tell the story of Harrison. He is my all time historical hero. No contest.
