Small quality TV. What to look for

Why buy a TV at all?

Going through this thread , I too am thinking of Loewe , at the moment I have a 24inch and it is becoming too small (I have cataracts and no desire to have them fixed just yet ) if I move then integrating TV and audio -properly will be an objective

Loewe WE.SEE 32inch. The cheapest TV they make, but not cheap.

Delighted with it, easy to install, looks great in the corner and the screen shows how dim and soft our old Sony was. Things have moved on in 15 years! The built in sound is actually pretty good, and would probably suffice but I have it wired through the HiFi for now.

Lets hope it gives us long service like the last one.

Thanks all.

Very much thinking of Loewe at 32 inch or maybe a decent quality 43 inch. Went to Curry’s yesterday and very impressed with some of the TVs. Others I thought hadn’t been set up properly

One question. Any reason why the Electronic Programme Guide doesn’t seem to populate well? Most slots show as ‘information unavailable’.

It takes time for them to populate the guide via the broadcast datastream. If the TV was just turned on and the current time is past where it was up to on the last load (likely if you watch infrequently) then most slots will show blank.

Most TVs can perform better fetching the guide if they have an internet connection.

Also make sure you properly set your location. To fetch the right data, they usually want you to input a postcode or county on setup.

You may be aware that tv set ups in retailers have a sepcial setting, which over eggs the display, largely intended to counteract the lighting in stores.
Currys sell some LG models which are unique to them, identified by the model codes.

John Lewis offer a good selection and my LG42 from there is very good, connects wirelessly without issue and is a neat design. Optic out to Naim streamer, works well.

The first of the 2025 models are it seems just released, so a chance for a reduced price. It comes with a 5 year guarantee (accident cover extra). Its half the price of Loewe, perhaps you can see a justification for the extra cost.
I run mine with an Apple tv box, so it is a means on purchase or later, to keep up to date with the latetst apps.

Look for a small quality TV that doesn’t have a captive power cable.
Most that don’t can always be benefited by using a much better cable than the one supplied.
