I thought it would be useful to start a thread about the latest version of the Stack Audio SmoothLan - the Regenerator version.
Anyone care to share their feedback on its impact on sound quality, sound presentation, etc?

Seems like nobody is talking about this product.
Well, you should be
I pushed the button on one of these and its been in my system for several days in place of the regular smoothlan between my switch and streamer.
So far Iāve been seriously impressed with the Regenerator, and it has definitely improved over the days that itās been running.
The most noticeable improvement has been the level of detail and transparency in the music. The clarity is really impressive.
The presentation seems more relaxed and organised yet there is definitely no lack of PRaT. There is a good emphasis on the leading edge of notes making the sound very rhythmic.
I get the sense that virtually all ānoiseā has been removed. But not in the way that the background is so black that it sounds hollow. More in the way that the music is set free.
On the whole, my system has never sounded so good until I plugged the SL Regen in and gave it some time to settle in.
There is something very ārightā about the sound. Instruments sound more organic and real. Less digital. Itās addictive.
In summary, this is a highly impressive piece of kit! I wholeheartedly recommend you try it out.
So it adds something to the Shunyata cable you have already. Which Shunyata is it , entry level, middle one?
It does yes. The shunyata ethernet is the entry level gamma.
@drago found no need for a Smooth Lan with his Sigma.
The why I asked.
Iām sending back my Smoothlan too (not regen). Itās messing with transients and PRaT making the sound more smooth. Which I guess is the idea if you name it Smoothlan. It does sound more āanalogueā if a more round, soft presentation is what you are in need of and that is what you refer to as analogue sound. I guess for some this takes away some of the digital feeling but I also believe if you have a good digital signal chain you will not think of it sounding digital.
Another positive observation is that listening at low volumes is now more enjoyable and engaging than before the regen.
Iām curious if users have tried the SL Regen with the higher up Shunyata cables that include filters. While I liked what the standard SL did combined with my previous network cable, Iām not so sure the Sigma & the SL are ideal in my case. It does work well to take any digital edge of poor recordings but seems to loose a bit of magic on good quality recordings. I havenāt spent much time listening but my feeling is Iāll likely remove the Smoothlan with the current Sigma cable. Iām just curious if the Regen might be a better match. Or looks like LHY has just released some new switches, so also curious about that route.
The regen might be a better match because it does less smoothing than the original SL.
Thatās good to hear, Iāve seen a few comments from people that have compared them both & I sort of got the feeling that might be the case. In your comparison you mentioned the Regen was more relaxed, so wasnāt sure if that meant additional smoothing.
Anyone else have issues connecting with Stack audio? Iāve tried to get help on a return since mid of may but still havenāt got the information needed. Are they overloaded having growing pains?
I recently tried and returned some Auva 50s and found it was best to ring them, although they did answer my emails.

Similar issue here, ordered 1x AUVA equipment footer on 10 May.
It has only just been shipped out today.
Not sure whatās going on, but Iām slightly annoyed as I had to send 2 emails to get this ball rolling - againā¦..
I know itās not a big deal in the overall sense.
But they are an internet based business, Iād be slightly concerned if I was the company owner and word gets around in the hifi community that they are have regular issues like theses.
It seems their email is hit & miss. Iāve had issues getting replyās & apparently itās due to my emails getting sent to their junk folder. Had better luck with the online chat.
Oops - Mine should Go back too ā¦
Asked them once, when i Heared nothing from shipment notice.
Received no answer.
Hurray - there is something to come.
They do email you a pre-paid postage label when you return an item.

They told me so on May 26th. I have since asked for it twice. No response
Still no reply. No emails in my spam box. Something is not OK over at Stack Audio. Iāll try the chat and see if someone replies there. Not good.
Please keep us posted ⦠I also have one for return!
The issue I was having was my emails intermittently ending up in their spam box (not their emails ending up in mine)
