A pity that they didn’t offer a comparison – would have been interesting to see how the active system compared to a passive system of similar price.
But I agree that it is an intriguing system – the advantages of going active without the usual twin towers (or worse) of black boxes…
You are quite right, it took me a little while to figure that out when doing a box head count on the day!
Naim provide a dedicated biamp output on the Supernait for people who have speakers that will benefit from the extra power, but who do not want to go for a full-blown separates system with all the extra boxes and expense that requires. It doesn’t give you a better amp, it just brings more demanding speakers to life by giving them the extra power they need.
