SN3/HCDR + Spendor D7.2 or Focal Kanta n1 recommendation

Hi, I’m currently on SN3/HCDR (very happy) and Focal Aria EvoX4 with some plan to upgrade the speakers. Spendor D7.2 and Focal Kanta N1 with stands are shortlisted now as they costs equally the same and fits the budget (Kanta N2 out of budget). As I don’t have an option to demo at home or even to compare 1:1 I listen to them separately with a different amplification. So I found:

  • Spendor D7.2 clean, dynamic, great layering, resolving like I never have heard before, overall great for me but just a bit to bright at highs (there were out of the box ones)
  • Kanta n1 - the same but just a little more warm / calm / musical , maybe even more pleasure for long listening but definitely less resolving with less control especially on bass vs Spendors
  • I do listen on low level (8:30 - 9:00 max, room is like 40m2, 430sq ft)

so my question - have you chance to compare them 1:1 ? any experience, opinions after longer time very welcome especially with SN3 which will stay for a longer period of time :). thanks a lot

I hope all came back from Bristol now  and there will be some good/experience opinion here…

Whilst not comparing the Spendors and Focal directly; I have listened at length to the D7.2s with a SN3. This was done when auditioning new speakers 18 months ago. I was very close to dropping my cash on the Spendors. They sounded fantastic with the SN3; certainly not harsh or bright but as you say very resolving, and a fast sounding speaker. This I can see being ‘too much’ for many who might want a more reserved sound. As an aside, they look fantastic in the flesh also. I only chose my current speakers over them since I thought the ATCs had more mid-range presence which I liked (not surprising given the mid-range driver), and they were £1k cheaper.
